Apparently there will be an item about puberty blockers shortly.

Or rather after news sometime...

OP posts:
Lumene · 23/07/2019 08:27

Did it happen?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/07/2019 08:29

Interesting! Item yesterday on Today which I haven't heard yet, Newsnight last night (ditto), now again on Today. Harriet Wistrich guest editing Women's Hour today as well. What's happening at the BBC? Did that silly business with the Today deputy editor last week on Twitter hit a nerve?

BigGreenOlives · 23/07/2019 08:32

I wonder if that man (was he a news editor?) who said he wouldn’t allow T*s on is on holiday or has been suspended. Completely wrong for a publicly funded body to have lobbyists employed by them influencing news reporting.

nettie434 · 23/07/2019 08:34

Interview with Marcus Evans on now (8.30). He says there was a lack of attention to research in the GIDS service. He also questions reversibilty of puberty blockers.

JellyfishAndShells · 23/07/2019 08:36

Ooooh, listening now ! Very good points being made. Wow

borntobequiet · 23/07/2019 08:37

This interview is a breath of fresh air. Good.

TruthOnTrial · 23/07/2019 08:41

Psychiatrist saying independent body to step in, as most of these cases are those suffering with autism, adverse childhod events, social anxieties, etc and puberty blockers ill advised.

Yes yes yes...some sense being talked!

And being aired! Refreshing to hear this being spoken out loud!

Erythronium · 23/07/2019 08:42

Dave must still be at home poorly, if interviews like this are being allowed on Radio 4.

FormerMediocreMale · 23/07/2019 08:43

Missed it but sounds like they went into more of the issues. Maybe the tide really is turning.

nettie434 · 23/07/2019 08:43

'There is a political force that believes there is only one solution - transition'. Also says that staff have been anonymously going to media to discuss service. Agreed with Justin Webb cthat service needs investigating. Tried to post a few minutes ago when memory of exact words was better but it got lost. Anyway, mincing no words!

TruthOnTrial · 23/07/2019 08:44

These are very serious concerns that have been raised, who will take them on?

Who will launch an investigation?

blondie1412 · 23/07/2019 09:00

Marcus Evans exact words ; GIDS had been '' penetrated / infiltrated by political forces ''
wow , at last we are getting to the real problem.

teawamutu · 23/07/2019 09:13

Did they have a TRA on? If not, it's the first time I know of. Would LOVE to think the complaints are starting to have an effect.

AnyOldPrion · 23/07/2019 09:13

Marcus Evans exact words ; GIDS had been “penetrated / infiltrated by political forces”

Wow indeed! Sounds like the truth will finally be out there

SisterWendyBuckett · 23/07/2019 09:15

Thank you Marcus Evans.

LizzieSiddal · 23/07/2019 09:15

Agree, also I wonder if his Tweet and the subsequent complaints it generated, have made a grown up look at what's actually happening on the Today programme, and it has been decided they need to redress the balance. The Tavi report in the Sunday Times this weekend, has given them a very timey opportunity to start this redress.

Thingybob · 23/07/2019 09:25

By redresding the balance maybe tbe BBC are hoping that we'll forget the role they played with thier I am Leo programme. I am so pleased that things are slowly changing to protect children in the future but so sad for those kids (and parents) who have been sucked into the trans child lie.

Fizzypoo · 23/07/2019 09:26

I have worked with a few yp transitioning in a different job role to the one I have now. It's only a small amount of experience but each of them had autism and adverse childhood experiences, and each of them wanted to escape their previous life from it. I felt very clearly that they were not the sex they wanted to be and that they couldn't accept their actual self. No amount of self esteem building and therapeutic work could migate the online bullshit they read and believed. What really upset me is that even after being sectioned, having high doses of anti depressants ect not one person spoke any common sense to them. They mostly believed that they had ovaries and womens parts inside of them and were intersex. They were not, there was no medical evidence of this but other professionals let them continue believing this. It blew my mind and I could not continue in that role, I felt I was part of the problem by enabling their lie to themselves.

birdsdestiny · 23/07/2019 09:30

The political infilitration made me sit up, he understands exactly what is going on. India willoughby tweeting away saying everything is fine.

Satterthwaite · 23/07/2019 09:30

Good grief Fizzypoo

BigGreenOlives · 23/07/2019 09:36

I have had direct experience of the unquestioning approach as my son is a young adult who can’t make sense of his life. The affirmation approach doesn’t help as it leaves them on their own with their thoughts rather than giving them the skills to appraise their lives.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/07/2019 09:48

The infiltration started years ago, in every single LGB organisation, magazine, parliament, police, education, Womens groups. Once they had a foot in the door we were all screwed.

Bit like all those films were the friendly aliens come in peace, heal the sick, make poverty disappear etc, then the humans realise they are now all infertile, fucked and were lulled into a false sense of security because all the woke dude bros told them they were bigots for thinking the aliens might just have an agenda that isn't so friendly after all.

thatdamnedwoman · 23/07/2019 09:54

Yes, 'political infiltration' is a really useful phrase. Stephen Whittle, Edward Lord, Ruth Hunt, the Goldsmiths gang et al have had a strategy to infiltrate and change policy at the highest of levels and to get changes carried out quietly and invisibly from within, without open public consultation — because they know that feminists see through it and the general public are really not keen on the idea of their daughters having to share loos with boys or men with beards and frocks.

We now need to find out who has been pushing this within the BBC, within the English and Scottish and to some extent Welsh Parliaments and the Guardian, within charities such as the NSPCC and Amnesty and in the education world. There will be influencers, change-makers, quietly dedicated to mainstreaming transgender and destroying women's rights. They need to be identified and stopped. The NSPCC may have just made a start, as have the Guides.

We also need to get political ourselves and set up feminist groups and a proper Women's Party based on feminism so that this can't happen again.

Interesting. I heard someone on the train talking about this - they implied that the study had been deliberately manipulated.
