Another day that I’m glad I didn’t carry on with the NSPCC volunteering

The same Munroe who thought it was fine and dandy for a child to be performing in an adult nightclub for money?

Sounds ideal.

Really? I rarely comment on threads about individuals but a charity responsible for children's safety?

Due diligence NSPCC!

Gah - Childline!

I'm not surprised about this although why Munroe was thought to be a suitable pick I don't know.

What does surprise me a bit is this is their FIRST LGBT campaigner - so in all the years of rights activism it never occurred to them to ask any gay man or lesbian women? Presumably young teens conflicted about their sexual orientation or having home life difficulties because of it have used the service for many years?

"Throughout my career as an activist".

Children need protection from this crap. I couldn't care less about Paris Lees advertising Pantene but this is serious - Munroe is hardly a shining example for children. Wrong decision.

MB has an overly pornified view of womanhood.....not sure vulnerable children should be talking to them.

What a great role model - someone who has had extensive facial surgery and doesn't want women and girls to have boundaries Hmm

Like you, Ova, I'm very surprised there haven't been any LGB campaigners before. Or does MB just mean 'T'?

Report
StealthPolarBear · 06/06/2019 09:07

Yes if there have seriously never been any lesbian or gay campaigners before then they have failed as an organisation.
Can someone tell me what the hell all the TIA+¿ stuff is? It would make a lovely secure password.

Link to Flaps' post, in which Munroe is asked about Desmomd (11 year old boy who dances for money in gay clubs) and does not answer, but gets Julia Long ejected for asking the question.

www.childline.org.uk/info-advice/your-feelings/sexual-identity/transgender-identity/

Unfortunately having just looked at their website front page, this seems consistent with their confusing, irresponsible and pathologising messaging.

Eg

FEELING CONFUSED ABOUT YOUR GENDER
When we’re born people have to record whether we’re a boy or a girl. This is usually based on seeing whether we have male or female sex organs.

Being transgender or trans is when someone feels that their gender identity is different from the gender they were given at birth. Trans people might:

^feel like they’re in the ‘wrong body’ and that their genitals don’t match how they feel
want to change their clothes to better match the gender they identify with^

be scared about telling people about how they feel.

^Not everyone who’s trans wants to go from living as a boy to a girl (or the other way around). But some trans people might want to change things about themselves, such as how they look or parts of their body. It’s important to do what feels right for you.

(bolding at the end was mine.)
Telling kids ‘it’s important to do what you feel’ about changing parts of their body?!

Are you kidding me?
Childline is for CHILDREN. Young enough to need outside help and support. So since when did it advocate for children to ‘do what they feel’ about taking on permanent hormonal medical or surgical changes?

This is really dangerous.

Ugh sorry for formatting. Just look at their homepage and you will find their info on this. First box shown under ‘ADVICE RIGHT NOW’ is ‘gender identity’. Above ‘physical abuse’, ‘FGM’ and ‘Confidence building’.

This is the homepage link:

Munro apparently doesn't see anything wrong with a 10-year-old twerking for money in an adult only club.

And now they are a representative of Childline???

Childline drank the Kool Aid long since.

I would not regard it as a safe haven for children at all any longer.

And that Munroe has been appointed given the words on record about child drag acts, well - third sector capture at its finest.

It really is Kids Company again, isn’t it? What absolute fools they are and how sad for the children who really need this service.

Let's remember this Times story from just over a year ago about Bergdorf:

'But The Times discovered a tweet where she made fun of a friend, saying: “How’s your barren womb? We all know your little secret . . . hairy lesbian!” She also criticised a singer on television, saying: “You have to admit she did look like a butch LEZZA tho.” The DJ from London wrote that a character on the American TV show Glee was so “annoying” that “even I’d like to gay bash him!'

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/labour-lgbt-adviser-munroe-bergdorf-wanted-to-gay-bash-star-b75v8l60r

I'm sure gay and lesbian teenagers will be absolutely thrilled to have Bergdorf campaigning for them on behalf of Childline.

Does Childline know any of the past things Munroe has said? Or do they just not care in the race to be inclusive?
I'm struggling to understand how this is happening and why no-one cares.

Childline is mangaed by NSPCC.

Last year NSPCC refused to engage with MN members Safeguarding concerns:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3353658-AIBU-to-be-shocked-that-the-NSPCC-cancelled-their-Facebook-Live-session-with-Mumsnetters-because-they-didnt-like-the-questions-That-they-cant-explain-why-they-arent-putting-children-in-danger

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_facebook_live/a3343961-Facebook-Live-about-talking-to-kids-about-staying-safe-from-abuse-with-NSPCC

Munroe Bergdorf does not understand Safeguarding.
NSPCC will not discuss Safeguarding concerns.

Didn't Mermaids charity publicise their work with NSPCC?
Susie Green (CEO) & Mermaids do not understand Safeguarding.

There is a systemic failure of Safeguarding & Child Protection frameworks where trans-rights lobbyists intersect.
