“Transgender patient Evie Amati was sentenced to nine years and will be eligible for parole in four-and-a-half years for the 2017 attack in a 7-Eleven store in Enmore, New South Wales, Australia, a suburb of the east coast metropolis of Sydney.

Amati walked into the store carrying a two-handed logging ax and approached victim Ben Rimmer, who was standing in line by the checkout counter. Video surveillance of the sneak attack shows the wannabe killer engaging Rimmer in a short conversation, then hauling off and slamming the sharp ax head directly into the victim’s face.”

That's a very thorough report.

I wonder if he'd have let his guard down if he had been approached by someone who looked like a man?

And thank God Amati's tinder date blew out.

Sexnotgender · 27/01/2019 19:54

Disgusting person and appalling sentence. Those 3 people could very easily have died.

Life in a male prison should have been the result.

FlyingOink · 27/01/2019 20:00

Yeah I'm not sure mitigation about the person's hard life should be allowed really.
It's basically saying if you had a hard life you're more dangerous, because there's some justification in your past for violent outbursts.
It's insulting to anyone who has been through tough times and not smacked anyone in the face with an axe.
Or who has been abused and doesn't abuse others.
Pity for the defendant should have nothing to do with anything.

She was sentenced to a minimum of four and a half years behind bars, after her lawyer argued her transgender operation caused her immense pain and contributed to her later trying to kill strangers.

News.com.au has learned that Amati, who has been held in three different women’s prisons since her arrest two years ago, has used her intelligence and skills as former union organiser Karl Amati to push other female inmates around in the system.

But this never happens.

Link to petition to have Amati’s sentence appealed and kept in prison for at least 10 years.

Not sure this information will be appearing in a Mermaids training session anytime soon

FamilyOfAliens · 27/01/2019 20:26

That’s a thing, is it? People suffering pain go round hitting strangers in the head with an axe? Who knew?

FlyingOink · 27/01/2019 20:31

I doubt Amati was in pain at the time, given the Tinder hookup who blew out.
If I had a newly created neovagina that was giving me grief, I wouldn't be either wandering around or looking for a shag

SirVixofVixHall · 27/01/2019 20:40

In women’s prisons. I despair.

snowbear66 · 27/01/2019 20:45

..."since her arrest two years ago,(Amati).. has used her intelligence and skills as former union organiser Karl Amati to push other female inmates around in the system."

I think it's clear from this video that it's not Amati's intelligence? or skills?? that Amati is using to push female prison inmates around.

Terrifying.

On Facebook in September 2012, she announced she would be starting hormone therapy, writing, “Today I gained approval to start hormone replacement therapy. Trans ftw! Boobs: here I come!”

Following Ms Amati’s arrest in Enmore shortly after the attacks at the 7-Eleven, she requested in Parramatta Bail Court that she be given access to two hormonal drugs commonly used by people who transition from male to female.

Ms Amati, who is currently in custody after being refused bail, has been charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm.

Ms Amati asked the court that she be supplied with the oestrogen booster Progynova, and Spractin, a testosterone suppressor.

News.com.au understands that Ms Amati is being held in Silverwater Women’s prison and will have access to health care while on remand in custody.

In October 2012, Ms Amati said on Facebook “ I am trans ”. She also discussed on Facebook taking inspiration from US punk band Against Me! lead singer Tom Gabel, who is now known as Laura Jane Grace.

But this never happens.

Ffs

Purplewithgreenspots · 27/01/2019 21:38

The ‘my life is so shit’ defence is always used when a lawyer has nothing better to say.

WeWantJustice · 27/01/2019 21:42

Very unlaydeelike.

As Waterstreet described the " pain, suffering and torment" she had gone through during a daily "dilation" process following her sex change operation in Thailand, Amati wept.

Amati's sex change op was 2012. Is dilation of a neovagina required forever after? It's so painful it can be noted in your defence in court? FFS. Bet Mermaids training doesn't mention this.

This. If you go around hitting random people in the faces with weapons then you have mental health problems that are severe enough to make you dangerous to the public and you should be sectioned. Stunning and brave people should not be excepted because in reality they are no more stunning and brave than everyone else who's had a hard time, for instance living as one of Britain's appalling poverty statistics. World's gone mad.

Very dangerous individual - I fear for the women in jail with them....

whiteworld · 27/01/2019 23:19

He should be in prison for life. Ffs.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/01/2019 23:23

I can’t say I felt murderous when I buggered 4 discs. I actually felt like crying and trying to find a position I could settle in for more than 5 minutes without excruciating pain.

I’ve been doing woman pain all wrong then?

MargueritaPink · 28/01/2019 00:03

The sentence is ridiculous.

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 28/01/2019 00:11

Ffs. There are plenty of actual women walking around who have had painful gynae surgery. Who have given birth ffs, which in itself is pretty painful and can result in lifelong injury. Do their lawyers testify that this contributes to them cleaving people's heads open with axes?

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 00:18

her lawyer argued her transgender operation caused her immense pain and contributed to her later trying to kill strangers.

This is a very dangerous precedent to be setting, that being trans/undergoing trans treatment is so awful that it provides a justification for trying to murder strangers. Amati didn't attack those people because their neovagina was hurting, they attacked those people because their Tinder date wasn't interested in them, they have a grudge against society in general, and they are mentally ill. Let them out and they will hurt more people. Put them in jail with women and they will use their size, strength, and complete lack of empathy or conscience to hurt the women prisoners.

Section the bastard, and anyone else who thinks that they have a justification for attacking people because they're angry at the world/because someone didn't want to shag them.
