Mermaids review

Good news for people who don't believe gender non-conforming children should be told they're in the 'wrong' body, and may need a lifetime of drugs and/or surgery to 'fix' that.

Need to get Lisa Muggeridge on this. She's very good on why Mermaids are so dangerous for safeguarding.

Excellent news! Glinner I’ve been following you for months on Twitter but only ever interacted with your posts about scriptwriting. I’m a fellow Irish person (woman) and a university lecturer, so I can’t say anything much on this publicly but I really appreciate what you are doing. Thank you so much. It’s so wonderful to see a man, particularly an Irish man, speak so bravely about this. Most of the men I know sidestep it entirely. Thank you.

We need some medics to come out and say "heap of tosh" really.

There's been letters in the medical press recently - Lancet and BMJ. Wonder if they'd speak to the lottery?

Dr Susan Bewley would be ace. Down to earth but super respected.

We have received a range of correspondence in relation to a proposed grant to Mermaids, expressing both concern and support regarding this organisation. We’re grateful to those who have taken the time to write to us, and in light of the nature and volume of the communication we have received, we have decided to undertake a review of this grant.

Is it just me who finds this interesting phrasing? It's sounds almost as if some of the supportive communication is leading to the review.

Is it possible, as TRAs hope, that the review could result in increasing the funding to Mermaids?

Apparently this is entirely down to Graham Linehan. Oh, and Mumsnet.

"Herrop also called out Mumsnet for becoming a ‘breeding ground for the most toxic and vehement forms of transphobia’.

‘By allowing vulnerable and innocent children to be targeted in such a way, Mumsnet have become actively complicit in campaigning that seeks to make the lives of transgender and non-binary children and young people even more challenging and disadvantaged than they already are, causing significant and potentially irreparable harm.’"

I said I was taking a break from Twitter, not Mumsnet! But you're right, I'm cheating. Peace out, and well done to everyone who took the time to write.

LGBT Foundation (they of anonymous breast binders for children) are now tweeting support.

This has got a lot of people very rattled. As others have said, this could be the domino that brings it all down if the grant is revoked, and the reasoning published.

Great news. The backlash will be huge, which makes me even more certain of the intentions of those supporting the transing of kids.

Does anyone know what happened to the inquiry ordered by Penny Mordaunt in September regarding the rise in children "wanting to change sex".

Surely this is relevant to Mermaids as "Officials will look into the role of social media and the teaching of transgender issues in schools as part of their inquiries"

Fixed that for them.

I hope so, having seen the negative effects of lupron on an adult (which is used by the NHS as an off shelf as hormone blocker) this drugs side effects are horrific, just reading through the thousands of people who have had very bad experiences should raise alarm bells. Check out the Lupron Victims (The Original) facebook pages. Really hope specialists are called upon to discuss this. It's clear this is very questionable drug to give to adults yet alone kids! Can't believe that CH 4 news hasn't investigated this drug, but has been raising money for Mermaids! very worrying times. The NICE side effects say it all it really: Appetite decreased; arthralgia; bone pain; breast abnormalities; depression; dizziness; fatigue; gynaecomastia; headache; hepatic disorders; hot flush; hyperhidrosis; insomnia; mood altered; muscle weakness; nausea; paraesthesia; peripheral oedema; sexual dysfunction; testicular atrophy; vulvovaginal disorders; weight change

Don't expect this to stop the grant, but it has show the general public's view on the matter, it's show there are concerns and most feel things need to be looked at. It will cause a slight wobble, not a domino effect.

How long until there’s a bowing and scraping apology from the lottery for daring to question the cult?

why do you think that?

This is being pushed from the very top, it won't be stopped. But the more people are aware of it the more corrupted it looks.
