So who’s up for having a book club on here? All choose one book, read it in a month (for the busy ones 😂) and then come back with a 🍷 and some 🍫 and discuss our thoughts? Like a digital book club? X

Any book ideas for starters?

Mine is the new Marian Keyes but could also do something more literature-y or classic?

Xx

I’m up for Sarah Millican’s autobiography, anything by Austin or Dickens, or Catcher in the Rye

Or the new one by Cathy Kelly, Secrets of. Happy Marriage

Any ideas yourself? X

I think fortnightly could work for most people. Can’t wait

From experience monthly is better. Even if everyone involved reads quick enough it tends to end up feeling like a chore because the only books you read you 'have to'.

Just my penny's worth from being in a few book clubs.

I'm in - especially if the genre is variable.

I mean otherwise (more frequently than once a month) it becomes chore.

Once a week is way too much too - especially if it's a long book.

Yes sure - best think about book clubs is the variety of books.

Though you need to set down (I'm being bossy sorry!!) When the month's book is announced (1st of the on the month? Last Friday of the month?) and by whom (with a book club that physically meets this might be the person who hosts).

Ways a book might be chosen here - be an idea that on a certain date a few books are suggested by several users - first to be seconded is the book. Or choose a bookshop that does a book of the week and always go with that?

Set out a few rules like that and we're away!!

First Friday or Thursday of the month. Week three we can start making suggestions and first book to get thirds is chosen (unless there is only one seconded) ?? Xx

Book is picked A week in advance to give people a chance to get a copy of it if they don’t have one.

Then on the next first Thursday or Friday the book is open for discussion until the next one is chosen

Xx

Hello can I join?

I'm new to a physical book club and really enjoying it. I'm a very practical reader - it's either a good book or a bit meh - and I never have any literary input (how words or themes are used to express blah blah blah) so I'd love to learn more about this and reading books in a different way.

Or we can have one which is fiction and a non-fiction one?

DaisyRaine90 · 11/11/2017 23:12

What kind of non-fiction? X

I was thinking of travel, popular science or history, a good biography too.

I’m up for this too. Always wanted to join a book club.

I read very little non fiction anymore but maybe we should have a fiction one and a non fiction one so people can opt out if they just want one of the other?? X
