Sorry, I know it's short notice, I've been away!

Anyway, we have a very deep low pressure crossing the south tomorrow. Gusts 70-80mph along the south coast along with some very heavy rain in the Sw. Further north into the midlands. there is also a concurrent tornado risk.

Ah, I’ve found my people. So thrilled. Complete weather nut since a-level geography. Thrilled to be here and excited for a bit of wind tomorrow!

AFingerofFudge · 01/11/2019 23:22

OYBBK I was worried about your absence in the light of a weather warning!! Grin Glad to see you're back!

Ginfordinner · 01/11/2019 23:23

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/11/2019 23:31

Anyone awake to keep me company? I started another thread a little while ago - am in a holiday cottage eighth on the top of the peninsula in Cornwall with nothing except ocean between me and this big bastard storm!

TheTeaFairy · 02/11/2019 06:22

Hello @LadyFlumpalot
I live in the SW, a few miles from the tip where you are. Haven't slept a wink - wind and rain beating against the windows. Our electricity is flickering and it sounds like the end of the world out there 🌧😮
Hope you have a safe journey home Smile

TwattingDog · 02/11/2019 06:54

Morning all. The wind woke me up about 30mins ago. We sleep with a couple of windows open, and the bathroom window was pulled wide open in a good big gust.

I'm looking at all the weather stations, and the biggest wind report I've had confirmed was at Fowey, 73kt or 84mph.

LadyFlumpalot · 02/11/2019 07:06

Hello! We ended up dragging all the quilts down to the living room at about 1am and making various floor/sofa beds. Far tooooooo noisy upstairs with the rain sounding like it was going to break the window!

It's fucking nuts.

TwattingDog · 02/11/2019 07:25

Can you see anything of the storm now?

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 02/11/2019 07:32

Central south (not coast) here. Wind building, sky is an ominous pinky dark grey, definite feel of calm before the storm. I'm travelling to London so hoping for no train disruption.

LadyFlumpalot · 02/11/2019 07:37

Unfortunately I'm out of photo allowance, however for those of you who are familiar with the rock formation at Cape Cornwall, The Brisons... the waves are consistently breaking over them...

It's partly terrifying and partly FUCKING AWESOME

A real North South divide today. Currently partly sunny with a slight breeze in South Yorkshire. I'm travelling North and the weather will be even better where I am going.

Unshriven · 02/11/2019 07:46

There's a warning in place for wind here, in place from 4am-6pm.

There isn't even a breeze. Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2019 09:05

That's because they issue one time for the whole zone Unshriven. You will get it later.

I am so jealous LadyFlumpalot Grin

You can see peak gusts here. Max so far is 83mph.

There are going to be a lot of trees down and transport disruption - especially given that a lot of trees are still in full leaf.

SWR have imposed speed restrictions of 50mph on their entire network today.

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 02/11/2019 09:14

Yes, I'm on SWR now and the guard has been giving us updates.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2019 09:23

How is it affecting things Expletive? The weather isn't really affecting the east of the region yet.

Loaf90 · 02/11/2019 09:23

When is this weather going to pass? I'd love some crisp autumn mornings

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 02/11/2019 09:28

My train is nearly at Waterloo, 5 mins late. The live arrivals on the app are all over the place though.

Very grey looking out of the window and heavy rain.

Trewser · 02/11/2019 09:29

Nothing much here (Sw). Not sure whether to bother putting the horses in.

Lonelycrab · 02/11/2019 09:30

I’m on the south coast near the Isle of Wight. About 100 yards back from the seafront and it’s going mental here. Just had a tile blown down off the roof. Ds curled up next to me on the sofa slightly annoyed we can’t do the photo project he was planning.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2019 09:46

Looks like it's going to be wild for you Lonelycrab.

Trewser If youve not been affected yet I wouldn't worry.
