A very English scandal

Looking forward to seeing this

I have read the book and it was excellent.

I remember this happening and it being one of the earliest political scandals I was aware of ( and actually understood) - Watergate was my first but I was only small and didn't understand

Peter Bessell - the owner of a face like a badly tessellated pavement

Probably the best caption of a photo ever

I'm looking forward to it, too. Do you know when it's on? I enjoyed the book, and remember the court case very well!

I can't wait. Impressive cast, writer and director, it's going to be epic. Also Ben Whishaw is serious eye candy. I think it starts on 20 May.

I saw the advert for this last night. I haven’t read the book and haven’t heard about it before but the advert was gripping. I will definitely be watching!

I've really been enjoying the stories about how difficult it was filming with the Great Danes - apparently they are not especially clever or biddable dogs!

I enjoyed the book whilst taking some of it with a large pinch of salt, as it was heavily biased towards Bessell's version of events.

My jaw was dropping further and further open, however, at the fact that Thorpe's mates were all apparently sitting around listening to him plotting murder without it once occurring to them to tell him he was totally batshit and of course they weren't going to bugger up their lives helping him with something so obviously doomed to abject failure.

Starts on May 20th.

There’s something very pre/modern about the whole story.

I’m half-watching this. Can’t really get into it as I can’t get past Paddington Bear.

The story's moving very quickly. I'm glad I've read the book.

Tale of course

Can’t see past Thorpe’s friend as King Who Married That American

I had seen the story referenced, but never really knew what actually happened. I thought the opening episode was good, gave a real feel for society at that point in time. Also made me think how little the rarified world of politics has evolved.

Heading over to C4+1 for The Handmaid's Tale next.

BBC 1, just finished.
I remember it and my parents trying to keep it from me so I couldn't ask questions 🙄
It's very well done, Hugh Grant as JT really gave me the creeps.
