Fur or feathers, leather or lace, suede or velvet, come & tell us what you're wearing as the festive season comes our way. What's on your Christmas wishlist and what are you saving for the sales?

From designer to downtown, all are very welcome for chats about fashion, frolics and whatever else tickles your fancy.

Well done Stokey

&OS has fantastic stuff, my only quibble is that I have found quality to be a bit mixed but I rarely go in and not find an item or ten that I love.

Marsha your new sweater looks divine. Enjoy. V irritating that Liberty don't keep on top of stock and YY they don't seem to have kept up with the on-line thing at all.

Shop is DS any better?

Blair how are you today?

I got loads of xmas gifts this weekend and wrapped them and started writing cards. DH in shock at my level of organisation this year.

Dry your weekend sounds like it went really well - next weekend sounds fab too. I'd love to know where you are going

Woohoo, love a new thread.

Feeling rotten again. Seem to be getting one cold after another at the moment. How are you blair?

So, to answer stokeys opening questions...
Christmas wish list....nothing as yet Shock. I'm thinkng I may need a work bag but will decide once I start.
Sales.....again, nothing yet

I've got a really healthy wardrobe at the moment and don't need anything. The only thing I'd possibly like is a new going out dress. Probably navy.

X post with lib. I've just started Christmas shopping today too. Need to get organised before starting work. dry romantic weekend has also reminded me that I must get something booked for our anniversary weekend. Unfortunately the city we wanted to go to appears to be all booked up unless we want to pay £400 which we don't!

Thanks for new thread Stokey!

Feeling a bit better today I think thanks Lib and QueenC. I went to the GP and have got signed off for 7 days, and am going back next week for blood tests just in case. I felt horrible in the night and could hardly even lift my head off the pillow, but had a bit more energy when I got up at 10.

shop how is DS feeling now?

LikeQueenC I feel like my wardrobe is pretty complete at the moment. I would like a really nice navy pencil skirt though.

Yay, shiny new thread, thanks Stokey

The oxblood bags I linked the other day are possibly on my xmas wish list but it may be better to wait until the sales. Dh is not at all keen on buying me another bag - he thinks I have enough Shock he has NO idea

Sales wise, I'd like knitwear in colours other than black/blue/grey which, I noticed yesterday, is all I seem to have. (Marsha, love your IM jumper, great style and colour)

Big hugs to everyone and their dc's who are poorly - fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Blair hope you managed to get to the GP today.

Lib I am most impressed with your xmas organisation. I think I am working the 1st 2 weeks in December so had probably get a wriggle on.

Ootd is very boring simple - black I&C skinnies, l/s black Laura Ashley tee and whispers mumsnet scarf.

Marking place for later.
I haven't even started thinking about Christmas, too early! We are at family this Christmas so don't need to plan or buy food and drink so just presents. Had a house full last year so it was a military operation.
Hope those with germs start to feel better, it took me a good 2 weeks to shift my bug last month.
Good to hear the encouraging comments re MUs, can't come on 23rd January as DH working but will try to come to the next one.

Thanks stokey!

Marking my place for later, after I have read the last pages of the previous thread.

I am slightly panicking about Christmas as I usually have most of my presents by now. But October has been such a manic month that I have only ordered one present so far.

Stokey · 09/11/2015 21:52

Jealous of Amber & One's organisational skills. I haven't started Christmas yet either, I can never think about it until after Dd1's birthday.

I'd still like a coat but think I will wait for the sales now, it's been so mild. And I'm not sure whether to get a proper coat or get a better parka to replace the frankly mince one I bought last year - not waterproof or warm= kind of pointless!

I liked the Acne skinnies too Marsha just hard to judge jeans when you don't see them modelled.

Jaegar order arrived today and was v disappointing. The dress that was the same style that I slready own was far thinner material and looked awful. The short sleeve dress was a really odd shape and also looked awful. All going back.

one and amber you are super organised!

Drywhitethanks · 09/11/2015 22:31

Lovely new thread, thanks Stokey. And my DH is the velvet phobe, I love the stuff but don't own any

I need some non plain skirts for work. I'm so colour-blocky. My work wardrobe is coloured top, grey, camel or black bottom. If I'm feeling daring I might throw berry cigarette legged trousers in to! Dresses, black and grey, with a coloured cardi if it's chilly. Scarves or necklace. I'm boring or am I "true to myself" as it works well and I have loads of combos Confused

Report
AmberNectarine · 09/11/2015 22:44

I am a velvet phobe, but the KM one is really soft and doesn't have that gip texture that cheap velvet does. And it looked too good when I tried it to not get it!

Morning!

Just caught up and I love that red velvet dress amber. If it had sleeves I might be tempted myself.

Belated happy birthday for viva! So many Scorpio's on MNV.

Your new IM junper is gorgeous marsha and so are the skinnies.

It is such a shame IM really doesn't work for me as I love many of her clothes on other people.

I tried on boots and a pair of pull on trousers this weekend (the same that lara has) and they were just not right. The boots were ok but the trousers just looked completely wrong on me.

OOTD is MiH straight jeans, Uniqlo heattech, Asos Men's merino crew neck jumper, my trusty coatigan, Tod's chelsea boots and my new Hermès cashmere scarf. Nothing exciting but very snuggly.

Report
libertydoddle · 10/11/2015 09:53

Marsha I didn't comment on the skinnies only because I have never tried Acne jeans heard they run small so too scared!! and would need to see them on. Also I assume that as you wear skinnies a lot you are probably a good judge of what works. Blair has Acne skinnies I think.

Dry I think you are probably 'true to yourself'. That said I have realised lately that one of the reasons i get frustrated with my wardrobe is just because I am easily bored and like to change things so maybe you are the same. One of my favourite work items ATM is this dress. I mostly wear it with either a v-neck camel or navy cardigan buttoned up, opaques and brogues. The pattern seems to make it a bit more interesting than just a plain dress/skirt and I've had lots of positive comments. It also works with this jacket and I am debating trying a roll or turtle neck top underneath it too.

Stokey I saw some lovely French Connection parkas in TKMaxx the other day for around £70 ish. They looked very warm.

In the sales, I would like a camel coat (like Dry's MD one), a plain cape in marine navy or teal or very dark olive, a leopard print scarf, I have my eye on a couple of dresses. Right now I am still looking for a 'going out top' to wear with the M&S leather skirt, low heeled gold/bronze (not yellow gold) shoes and a pretty bag!

Report
LinusLovesBretons · 10/11/2015 11:26

Saw this dress in Zara just now and thought of lib or dry. It felt very soft!

And shop I tried that Tom Ford bergamot perfume you mentioned a while back and I blagged a sample as it smells gorgeous. Venetian Bergamot and also got a sample of Oud Fleur.

And I bought two Christmas presents and have thought of other ones so I am panicking less.

Gosh so many of you are organised with your Christmas shopping I can'r think about Christmas shopping until Dec 1st.

Dry your weekend away sounds lovely.

2 bags are on my Christmas wish list, a black cross body bag and a slouchy grey hobo bag. I've seen the ones I want already.

As for clothing I pressed the button and went for the MNV blouse, baa baa, couldn't wait for the sales as it's sold out practically everywhere.

Hope all the mini MNV and adult ones are feeling better today Flowers

Shame Blingy thanks so much for trying!
Linus I can't stop thinking about that perfume - well done on getting a sample - I couldn't blag one even with all my best efforts but am scared to spend that much on a scent without knowing if it is really perfect. :(
Dry I think you are very true to your style. I used to get very bored with my wardrobe when it was loads of stuff of lesser quality. Now that I buy better quality but fewer items I don't tend to get so bored. I wear stuff really hard and then if I have to say goodbye to it after a few years I don't feel guilty and enjoy finding the next thing....Does that make sense?
Speaking of which I have spent the morning using polish and protector spray on all my shoes - I reckon I'll get at least one more year out of my Pistols which is surprising given how heavily I've worn them.
No Christmas shopping here (other than lusting after stuff I'd like for me)
MiniShop is much improved today but I have had to keep him off school (48 hour rule). Took him to get his haircut and he is now doing the hokey cokey by himself in the living room Hmm
And finally (EPIC post).....
This GAP wool jacket arrived. It is oversized and is HUGE on the shoulders but fab everywhere else. It is SOOO warm I couldn't take it off. I was going to size down but they have sold out after the Frugality posted about it. So I wore it out, got 3 compliments and the shoulders have started to soften and drop already. Wore it with Lib's grey Whistles cashmere sweater, Linus' Paige Jimmies and my birthday Stan Smiths

Satchels have got a sale on and I want another saddle bag - I use my cream one loads but it drives me mad colour wise as it doesn't sit well with my clothes.
Can't decide whether to get bright white (as I do love the light colour), or bright green, blue or red.......
WWYD?
