SEAT have asked us to find out about the terrible things that Mumsnetters' DC have done to the family car.

Have sticky fingers smeared melted chocolate buttons across your pristine seats - or spilt a million tiny beads which are still turning up years later . Have you discovered unmentionables down the back of the seats - or been embarrassed by child-based detritus when giving a lift to a colleague?

Not my dc, but my cousin when he was little posted the entire contents of my aunt's cutlery drawer into the petrol tank of his parents car. You can imagine the consequences. They were not impressed (the entire thing was fried and needed replacing)

DD did spill a four pint carton of milk all over the back seat once. The smell haunted us for a long time

Can't think of any more apart from the usual chocolate smears, spilt drinks, remains of uneaten sandwiches and various other detritus

My two like writing in the muck on the outside of the car. It usually involves the word 'poo'.
About 2 years ago, just after we got the new car, we discovered precisely that on the rear passenger door. Unfortunately to top it off, whoever did it (and I'm pretty sure who the culprit was) used a sharp stick, and therefore we have permanent 'poo' scratched into the door.
Further to that, someone has managed to scratch what looks like a 'P' it into the WINDOW from the inside. Someone (DS2) who denies it very much. I have no idea how they managed it, but I was very, very cross when I noticed it.
Then there's the usual vomit christening (two days after we got it and at various intervals afterwards)

My car was condemned when dd1 was five weeks old and I've not been able to afford another one since.
Not technically her fault but it was still awful

My daughter (2.10) posted A LOT of loose change into the heaters. I kept blaming my OH for the 'trolley pound' going missing... turns out she was posting it in there every time she climbed into her seat. The car was a completely battered old Kangoo which we eventually auctioned. I bet whoever bought it will be extremely happy when that heater eventually pays out.

DD was in the car one day, looking shifty from the back seat, "What have you done?" I asked her, "Nothing much really", came the reply, I didn't believe her for one second, and fixed her with my beady eye, she then confessed that she'd put "wumpies" in the air condition vents, "wumpies" turned out to be 1 pence pieces from her piggy-bank! :)

Managed to get a bucket full of water plus the crab they found in the rock pools into the boot. Mind the last laugh was on them as the water and the offending crab was nestled in DD's cycle helmet which she didn't realise in her rush to put it on, oh how I laughed. The car however stunk of manky seaweed for ages afterwards. Little gits.

Piggypoo that's brilliant - I love "wumpies"

Mine have christened mine with all sorts of loveliness - various assorted body fluids, but I think the worst was when I found DS2's bogey collection on the back of the passenger headrest (in front of where he sits) that was most unpleasant, and hardened bogeys are very difficult to remove.

on the way to the airport with my first baby. in our brand new car. In her brand new car seat. I was on my own flying for the first time with her solo. Of course she threw up the fish pie lunch she had. It was everywhere and stank. I had nothing but a small pack of travel wipes with me to clear it up. I'd booked meet and greet and I couldn't even look at the man when I handed over the car keys at the airport. 4 weeks later (this was in august) we came back to the car and had to fumigate it which cost us a fortune. Still stank for weeks after. I have carried multiple packs of wipes since.

Wet wipes and lipsalve on the window. A total pain to get off. Smears beautifully.

Well mine always deny that it was them that farted. So perhaps they are to blame for faking the emissions tests?

I good crumbs used to really bother me, but they're just a fact of life now.
I was upset the first time that DD1 did a wee that soaked right through her cat seat and soaked the entire back seat. The poonami incident wasn't a highlight either.
The worst thing though has got to be the suncream handprints on the paintwork.

Discovering that she could open the door at 70mph on the motorway was interesting!

Also a frustrated toddler shaking their fruit pouch and it going everywhere. The seats were never the same.

Not my dc, but when my db was a teenager (can't remember how old but he wasn't old enough to drive) we got in the car to go somewhere. Dm forgot something and had to run back in the house, db got in the driver side and reversed the car as fast as it would go. He left the passenger door open and reversed into a tree. The door came off.

Not my car, but the first time my children were in their Grandads brand new car, they both puked everywhere. He was scraping vomit out of coroners for ages. DS later that day went on to wee in Grandads bed when having a nap. It was a trying day.

Well we had quite a disaster when it comes to our old car.
One of our kids decided to put his signature on the car. He scratched his initials on the back of the car… the reason for it… apparently it supposed to help him find the right car on the car park… like number plates wouldn’t do!

Let's just say sudocreme and car seats. No idea why the child thought it was a brilliant idea to bring a little tub in the car, it was at the age when they regularly clutched weird 'treasures' and ended up smeared across the fabric seats.
Google told me that washing up liquid would work...

Stuck stickers all over the window screen which will NOT come off!! Spilt milk everywhere
Burst waters everywhere and almost arrived on the back seat!

DS vomited luxuriously over his seat and the back of the passenger seat during a winding drive to the seaside. Took quite a lot of scrubbing and steam cleaning to remove all traces, I wish I could afford leather seats!

Discovering she could hoick the seatbelt over her head to somehow free herself from the car seat on the M25 was a particular low point. Fortunately an exit was close by, but utterly terrifying. Toddler was quite pleased with herself.

DS put sun cream on, and then laid his hands on my car. Now I have 2 very obvious hand prints on the bonnet that just won't come off!
