Start using Mumsnet PremiumLovely article in The Guardian about Cabin Pressure
(49 Posts)The great JF himself talking about it, followed by Stephanie Cole's reflections. Never seen such a positive set of comments on a Guardian article!

"I didn’t know John Finnemore’s work when the first two scripts arrived, but it sprang at me like a glorious ray of sunshine."
Such a lovely comment.
I cannot believe that there are still tickets available for his tour.
I can't believe I didn't notice until Stephanie Cole mentioned it that the destinations in each episode's title went from A - Z
John Finnemore's creation, and it is him and the brilliant Cole who are interviewed, but The Guardian know that putting Cumberbatch in the URL will get them the hits...
Yes. I had hopes of getting tickets for the Zurich recording, but I seem to recall that about 20,000 people (most of them Cumberbatch fans) applied for seats in a venue that could take about 200. Oh well.
His tour doesn't have a London venue, apart from Richmond, which is quite a long way from me, but I might check if there are still any tickets there. I have been fortunate enough to get tickets for several Souvenir Programme recordings, so I can't complain!
Aah thanks for sharing.
Given me a lovely warm fuzzy glow.
Love love love Cabin Pressure....literally the best comedy ever.
I have listened to it so many times, it never, ever gets old.
The Lemon is in play.
Might have to go listen to them all again now.
(Despite having listened to them in full at Xmas and on holiday last year!- obsessed? moi? )
Thoroughly recommend Double Acts to anyone who loves JF, really funny, very sharp, and sometimes poignant.
Ooh thanks so much for this. He’s playing my town and I hadn’t even realised!
Gasp0de you're an absolute
Dd has some difficult stuff happening soon and she adores Cabin Pressure and the Souvenir stuff (as do I) and I've got tickets just now as a surprise. Thank you for the alert
Glad to be of service, GrockleBocs! Hope it's good.
Reading those comments has made me realise it's time to get the box set out.
I adore CP, and loved some of the Double Acts, but I don’t get the Souvenir series. Find it mildly amusing at best, I feel like I’m missing something.
I loved Cabin Pressure and Souvenir Programme. The last one was brilliant when it wrapped up all the random threads.
The exam question sketch is one of funniest sketchs ever.
Ican't believe I didn't notice until Stephanie Cole mentioned it that the destinations in each episode's title went from A - Z
I was all hopeful when they flew off to Addis Ababa.
Love cabin pressure, double acts and souvenir programme, and agree that the last sp episode was absolutely brilliant, also the double act with Una Stubbs and Tamsin Outhwaite, and the one about the penguins
John is just so talented
I didn’t notice it was a-z until I read it in the article either.
Agree last episode of cabin pressure was amazing. I was listening on headphones and just went wow! And made DH listen to the whole episode
JF is just so amazingly talented, brilliant. Richmond Theatre has some singles in the stalls but the only seats together are in the Upper Circle (£29 + transaction fee), good going when he’s not appearing until 4th June. Website is a pain.
I really like Cabin Pressure but must say I don't think John F is great otherwise.
To my huge surprise, I got tickets to a Cabin Pressure recording once. It was a bit like Beatlemania
Benedict is excellent in it but the whole cast is glorious.
Awww I love Cabin Pressure so much! We re-listen to episodes all the time, so the whole family is almost word-perfect!
I really like Cabin Pressure but must say I don't think John F is great otherwise.
Could not disagree more. I think he's a very talented writer indeed. Double Acts has been excellent. The Souvenir Programme doesn't always hit the mark but it usually does.
The Souvenir Programme doesn't always hit the mark but it usually does.
For me it's the other way round –occasionally funny, much more often repetitious, dragged out or long-winded.
What a nice article. Cabin Pressure is my happy place . We have tickets for the Edinburgh show in June. Our DCats have been known as 'The tiny lions who live in our house and don't love us' after one of the Souvenir Programme sketches.
Jelly babies to manual.
I’m going to see him in June too, but at Richmond Theatre. I booked the seats a few weeks ago and there were hardly any left.
Timely mention there, @Eastpoint! He tweeted the other day about an extra show being added at Richmond. There might still be tickets available. From memory, it's on Sunday 3rd June at 2.30pm. Unfortunately no good for me but maybe others might be free then.
Where do I find this as I have never heard of it?
Tried searching the bbc radio app and it’s not listed?
