Pregnant straight after miscarriage with no period

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me. I miscarried at almost 6 weeks on 17th Sept. After waiting a week I did a test and it was negative. I was pretty upset as this was my first pregnancy.

Today, I’ve done a test and it’s showing “Pregnant 2-3 weeks”. Has anyone else had an experience of becoming pregnant straight away again after miscarrying or going through the same now? And was/is all ok?

Thanks so much xxx

I got pregnant straight after a chemical pregnancy, so a very early miscarriage. Really wasn't expecting it to happen, 36 weeks pregnant now with no issues.

Lulublu Wed 18-Oct-17 16:22:24

Same happened to me. 31 weeks now and all fine so far. I miscarried twice in a row and I've done nothing differently this time. Sometimes things just seem to work out. Good luck and I hope it goes well for you.

Thank you so much for sharing @Foggymist and @Lulublu. That’s very encouraging to hear. I’m going to drop in for an early scan tomorrow because I didn’t have one after my miscarriage. Hopefully all will be fine!

Sorry for your loss. flowers

I miscarried at nine weeks. Am now 17 weeks after conceiving without a period in between. All is ok so far.

I hope all goes well for you this time.

Thanks @FuzzyOwl If you don’t mind me asking have you felt different or pretty similar to first time? Also, did they give you an early scan?

Felt pretty much the same and I did get a couple of early scans but only because I was under the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I'm not a fan of early scans as they don't really give me any reassurance and often it is too early to even know if the baby has a heartbeat or not, so then there is a week or so of worried waiting until the next scan.

Yes. Realised had a missed miscarriage at 12 week scan. Had d&c at 14 weeks and was told to wait to have s period before trying again (because it was easier to date). I ignored that advice and was pregnant again without having a period. He’s 5 now!

Sorry for your loss
This happened to me, missed Mc at 12,weeks and surgical removal.
Got pg 1 week later ( no idea I was fertile and only did it once!!) . My period hadnt returned 8 weeks later so I tested and it was positive
I have to be honest and say that mentally it was very very hard as I was still mourning and the attitude from most people was that it made everything ok ( it didn't). My poor Mum thought I was having some sort of psychotic episode and had forgotten my Mc!!!!! Then she was cross with DH for " bothering" me so soon
I had a bit of a tricky pregnancy mentally but was physically ok and DD is almost 13 now, I also have an 8 year old.
When I told my GP I was pg she said that medically there was no reason why I shouldn't be pg again so soon and in one way it was good because there was no pressure to try again or even a decision to make about trying again ( if/when)
Good luck OP x

yes same happened to me, miscarried at almost 6 weeks in September, got pregnant again in October - 4 years ago though, and the pregnancy was absolutely fine.

I'm currently pregnant straight after miscarriage. Mmc in June, surgical management, no period and pregnant straight after. It's been the most difficult time of my life, physically and mentally. I'm still grieving my loss but also have complications with my pregnancy (potentially caused by getting pregnant so quick after a erpc).

TheDowagerCuntess Wed 18-Oct-17 20:36:02

Yes, it happened to me. DS is now 8. 💛

SmartyPants0 Wed 18-Oct-17 20:49:41

Yes... happen to me too. Miscarriage and D&C at 11 weeks I ovulated the following week and fell pregnant. DD is 21 now 😍
Good luck ❤

Miscarriage at 10 weeks but on ultrasound after I started bleeding foetus measured six weeks and no heartbeat. They tried to reassure me that it was ok and it was just early and I'd got my dates wrong possibly. Bleeding got much worse though and on next u/s the miscarriage was complete. No foetus on scan.

This was just before Christmas. Early in the new year, I went back to my GP as I was still getting positive preg tests and thought maybe I could have retained something. ( I'd not done a test for two weeks after my miscarriage, did one after the two weeks as I was still feeling sick and rough). She referred me to the early preg unit and I went along the next day. I was pregnant again.dates worded that I'd have got pregnant about a week or ten days post miscarriage.

Happy healthy pregnancy and she is now 15

Patchouli666 Wed 18-Oct-17 21:13:39

IT did feel like a verrrrry long pregnancy though. The 10 weeks plus the two weeks added on to the 40 meant I was truly fed up by the end!

cathyandclare Wed 18-Oct-17 21:16:41

This happened with me. She's 20 years old now!

Youzanne Fri 20-Oct-17 06:28:24

Thank you so much everyone. I’m glad all of you have healthy little (or big) ones! You have no idea how reassuring this is to hear.
Thank you for your honesty @Hoppinggreen, to be honest I’m feeling very anxious and ratty whereas first time round I was calm and happy. It’s comforting to hear that you were in a similar position and all still went well.
Thanks @Patchouli666 for your full story, must’ve been hard having your mc right before Christmas. So glad it all went well for you in the end, even if it was a super long pregnancy!

Happened to me too. That baby is now a very healthy 7 year old flowers

HopelesslydevotedtoGu Fri 20-Oct-17 06:54:38

I was told this happens because the lining of your womb is in a receptive condition after a miscarriage, so another egg has a good chance of implanting.

Mugglenet Sat 21-Oct-17 23:09:54

Happened to me... I'm now 17weeks pregnant

Hi ladies, thanks for sharing your stories, just came across this page having had a random 5 months and its very reassuring. I miscarried early September 17 at 5 weeks, was first time TTC. GP said to see the positive that we could at least get pregnant which I agree with. Left it a month for cycle return, usually bang on 28 days but that month was 30, then returned to 28 days and by November was pregnant but miscarried again at 5 weeks early December. Gutted. However this time, husband suggested we 'get right to it' no waiting. So assuming a longer 30 day cycle again, lots of ovulation sticks, a little bit of christmas spirit (!) and my 30 days is up today, no period. Small amount of brown spotting, could be implantation bleed. Some places say you are more fertile straight after miscarriage. I'll just have to wait and see a few more days. Eitherway I'll be of to the docs as 3 losses in a row puts me in the 'investigate' zone but fingers cross I'm pregnant and it sticks. Really lovely to read your stories and your healthy pregnancies after miscarriage so, thank you smile

Hi @Yukka
I'm so sorry to hear you miscarried twice. I miscarried at 5 weeks on the 17th September too. I got pregnant straight away without a period and so started this thread since I was worried. I'm now 16 weeks and fingers crossed all has been fine! Stay positive - there is a lot of evidence to suggest your body and womb is well equipped for pregnancy straight after a miscarriage. If you get a positive result, book in for a scan at your early pregnancy unit so they can make sure all looks ok in there following your last miscarriage. I had a scan and they could see what they thought was a sac, but because it was so early they also couldn't rule out that it wasn't remains from my last pregnancy and that my new pregnancy was ectopic. A further scan at 8 weeks confirmed this wasn't the case and my little bean was growing smile
Keeping everything crossed for you!

Ahhh wonderful news Youzanne! 16 weeks that’s ace! I wondered how you doing after seeing the dates of the post. Thanks for replying, positive hat is well and truly on. Good advice for requesting early scan I searched tonight and there is a local maternity centre I can go to so just need a few more days for hopefully a positive test and get myself booked in. Best of luck to you and thanks for being in touch x

Congratulations CL1982! Not long to go!!
