The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

Ahhhhh ; hope labour comes quick for you both!

I'm 34+2 finished up work 2 weeks ago and doing little bits about the house but also find myself doing nothing, second pregnancy & really tired this time around. Have been since the day we found out.

I went into labour at 38 weeks with my first. Hoping for the same again!

Hello! I'm 40 weeks today, no twinges just lots of braxton hicks. I was in triage last night and the consultant attempted a sweep but couldn't reach my cervix! I'm being induced on Friday but really want baby to come by themselves!

I'm 34+4 today and praying my little one will stay put. 2nd baby and the first arrived at 38 wks. I'm still working but on reduced hours and everything is organised so sort of feel like I'm hanging around on the days I'm off. Really tired this time round too Deb. Good luck to you ladies, such a strange but special time.

39 weeks today.

I thought it was all getting started on Monday... now it's all died down.

So uncomfortable, his long legs just keep booting me in the ribs and I want to meet him now!

Hi,

I am 38+6 and feeling ready for this baby to come. I have a few small jobs to finish around the house and have been batch cooking but getting impatient now.

My DS was induced when I was 11 days overdue but hoping this one comes without help.

So nice to hear everyone else's stories. It is quite a strange time and whilst I could occupy myself for 3 weeks no problems it is weird not knowing how long I have.

38+6 today with my first. It's such a long window of time where it could all kick off at any moment. I've had lots of Braxton Hicks and period type pain for a couple weeks now. Still have bits to do around the house but nothing urgent. I thought I'd enjoy this time off before baby (finished work 2 weeks ago), but I can't walk very far and I'm pretty uncomfortable a lot of the time... Ready to meet this baby!

35+6 and another week left at work. Am so tired now though, wish I was finishing tomorrow. Not ready at all. I probably have everything (except the bednest which arrives next week) but nothing is packed

Ugh, yes. The Braxton Hicks mixed with baby moving are such a recipe for nausea! Glad I'm not the only one Confused

I'm 41 weeks today! Confused So uncomfortable. I had my first sweep last Wednesday, got another & then booked in to be induced on Sunday but I really don't want to be induced. So hopefully tomorrow's sweep will work.

I've tried all sorts; long hot baths, hot (ish) food as I'm not keen on spicy food, pineapple, walking with one foot on the kerb & one on footpath, bouncing on gym ball...this baby is not budging haha x

I have a sore bump as baby keeps poking out and every 3 days or so I get really crampy. I had my 3 year old in my bed last night and I swear she and the baby were trying to kick each other.

My midwife was saying the other day that the prostaglandin in sperm helps get things going, even better if I can orgasm as it sucks everything up around the uterus. She also mentioned the exercises on the spinning babies website. I'm not in the mood for any of these things!!

@Frizziee - apparently nipple stimulation is another good one, i know a girl who was trying out her breast pump and it kick started her labour 😂

37+2 today and fed up! Bored of maternity leave, I've cleaned my house from top to bottom and just want baby to make an appearance! Too uncomfortable to chill on the sofa but too tired to go out and do something!

I keep getting really strange nerve groin pain, as if baby laid on something!!

Plus sleeping on my sides at night makes my bum go numb and is very uncomfortable!!

Think it's just time he was evicted now! Ha

I can't watch anymore Jeremy Kyle!! Ha

deb1407 · 18/05/2017 09:46

Only good thing about Jeremy Kyle is you can forget about your pains for an hour as you need full concentration to understand what they are saying other than all the shouting! & 90% of the time he's the worst for it!!

Hi Kthompson, i am 35+1 and I have also started getting a really sharp, sudden stabbing pain in my groin, that shoots down the top inside of my leg. It is so bad it takes my breath away and makes me nearly fall to the floor. Truly horrible! I finish work tomorrow and can't bloody wait! LO has been breech since at least 20wks and i have scan and Consultant next week to recheck her growth and position, will be offered a c-sec at 38/39 weeks if she is still the same (which i know she is, as i can feel her lie and kicks haven't changed!). I said to my DH last night, i feel like i have got very uncomfortable, very quickly and wouldn't be suprised if i go in to labour early. Feel excited but also quite nervous too!

Report
Frizziee · 18/05/2017 10:45

Summer my breech baby turned by itself around the stage you are at now. Fingers crossed the same happens for you! I had a tour of my hospital yesterday and the midwife taking it was excellent, she took all the fear out of it. Basically listen to your own body and stay at home as long as possible once labour starts!
