Hi All!

So I recently got my BFP...Still can't believe it. I phone my doctors thinking they would get me to come in and confirm it instead they put me straight through to maternity who said they will probably see me when I'm 9/10weeks so April time...felt like that was forever to wait. Because it's my first I feel like I have thousands of questions.

Is it normal to wait that long??

Thank you! I mean I at least thought my doctor would ask me to come in to confirm it but when I said I'd taken 3 different tests including digital he was like how much more confirmation do you need. haha ok so the waiting begins basically! xx

Same with me, I found out at 3 weeks + 4, ex went to docs to book an app with gp, they gave him a leaflet for booking with midwife. My app was for when I was 9 + weeks!
I waited nearly 5 + weeks to see her, longest wait of my life.

Now I'm 34 weeks, time seems to have flown by!

Ok well I'm relieved that it's normal then...does feel like it's going to be the longest wait but hey it can't be longer than the 2 week wait can it! lol

I am 12 weeks and was surprised as well when I was told it would be the midwife I would see - I was 5 weeks when I called and saw the midwife when I was about 8 weeks. It all still feels so surreal and like you, I could not wait to tell people and get the medical side sorted. My first scan is on Monday, I will be 13 weeks then. So totally feeling your anticipation and excitement! Before we know it, we will be heavily pregnant and wondering where the time has gone. Congratulations lovely xxx

Congratulations!! Yes, very normal for your first appointment to be around 9-12 weeks. I think mostly because there's not much the midwife can do before then; baby's too low in the pelvis to find the heartbeat easily with the doppler thingy, and it's unlikely that you'd already be having any blood pressure / UTI issues or any of the other stuff they check you for. Hope early pregnancy is treating you well!

Yes the first time.. at the beginning you do feel left to it a bit but now I am 24 weeks (twins) I pretty much see my midwife or the consultant every other week!

They don't do confirmation tests anymore. The shop bought kits are so accurate it's not necessary. There isnt anything the doctor needs to actually do, and There isn't much the midwife can do either, other than take your family history and a few blood tests. You'll get your first scan at 12 weeks.

It is a bit of a let down I know!

I got positive test result at 3 weeks and the wait to see midwife does seem ages saw her at just after 8 weeks. No point before then as they can't book you for scan until after 8 weeks apparently. But congratulations Smile

The two week wait is nothing compared to the 40 week wait Wink

Totally normal not to see anyone for the majority of first trimester. Take pregnancy vitamins, google foods to avoid, dont drink or smoke and you should be fine!

I called my doctor when I found out.I was only about 4 weeks. Didnt even make an appointment just took my details and said the midwife would contact me. One week later I received my first appointment and scan in the mail. Had to wait six weeks for my first appointment. It felt like forever, I was quite anxious but it just turned out to be a lot of paperwork and now I have three days until my first scan Confused I managed to get through the rest of the time by working but I have three days off now and cant keep my mind busy. Its driving me insane. First baby 11w + 2
