Bleeding at almost 8 weeks

Not much but it's there when I wipe and it's red. This has happened a few times, at around the time of implantation & then at weeks 5 and 6. Never much but there nevertheless. Mild cramps too. I've got a bad feeling this time

I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow.

Oh and I'm old. Old, old, old. I'm 42

Hi Green. I am 7+4 and I am about to turn 41. So old also!

Could be a subchorionic hemorrhage - I had one with my son at around 7 weeks which spotted on and off for WEEKS. That could be what started your bleeding at weeks 5 and 6, and has now started up again. It does not have to mean anything sinister.

A scan would show this, also confirm if it is a good distance from your baby. Can you get a scan in the next few days?

The very best of luck.

Hi LH, thanks for posting. I haven't heard of that. I paid for a scan at 6.5 weeks but no heartbeat was seen. The sonographer said everything looked fine for 6.5 weeks and it was just too early to see a heartbeat at that point. In my last pregnancy, a heartbeat was visible at around that time though. I'm thinking the worst. I'm thinking that this pregnancy has not developed and now I'm just waiting to miscarry. I will have to pay for another scan this week

If you bleeding see gp/a&be/epu whatever is the process in you area. They can assess you and refer you for a scan.

I can't take time out of work so will have to pay for a private scan in the evening one night this week.

Hi i am 39 and experienced bleeding at 6 weeks and 11 weeks in my pregnancy similar to what you have described. Everything was fine on the scans i had but i understand how terrifying it is and i hope all works out well for you. I contacted my local early pregnancy unit and they saw me immediately both times and told me that bleeding is very common and that they see several women per day with the same symptoms and largely there is no cause or reason for it happening. Good luck with your scan.

Hi, thanks for your reassuring message. The blood is there when I wipe, it started again this morning at work. I called the EPU but was told to " monitor it and call back tomorrow". I have booked a private scan for tonight.

I often prefer scans by myself...I dunno, quite like a quiet moment to see and feel connected to my baby. When my DH is there I worry that he feels involved, and can see the screen etc. You have suffered a lot the last few days with worry - maybe nice to do this quietly alone?

I think I'll see an empty sac. I feel like I could cope with a miscarriage if it would just happen and I could get out of this awful is it / isn't it situation. Thanks all BrewCake

You might be right but your symptoms don't truly suggest that. Light spotting over an extended period of time, with no increase and no cramping...dunno, doesn't sound like a miscarriage. I am no doctor clearly, but I do ask lots of people about their spotting symptoms. Flowers

Greenglass, I am so desperately, deeply sorry. What a sad and heartbreaking thing. All my warmth and condolences to you. Be kind to yourself and look after yourself.

There is no sense to this process and I wish this had not happened to you.

I completely understand and I have been there myself too. I wanted it to be gone as fast as humanly possible.

Green, I hope you will be home very soon so you will be close to your little girl, and your partner can take really good care of you.

can anyone tell me how likely it is that this will come out on it's own? And how long can this sac keep on growing with nothing inside it?

My stupid body still thinks I am pregnant, even though there has never been a baby in there, so ridiculous. Nausea as bad as ever. Have hardly slept. Keep expecting a tidal wave of blood
