Do your knickers always match your bra?

DH, who I have been happily showing my knickers to for over 8 years now, announced this evening as I was getting ready to go out for his birthday 'your underwear doesn't match'. I had on a white bra (wearing thin white blouse, is hot) and black knicks (was being nice putting on lacy thongy things to keep him happy).
Turns out he thinks that women ALL wear matching underwear ALL of the time! He claims he had never noticed that I didn't!
Please tell me I am not the only woman in the world who wears underwear that is not matching!!

I think I hardly even own matching underwear..maybe a couple but certainly not enough to match all the time! Of course mostly wearing maternity bras at the mo - and who wants to wear something that matches that! Anyway, its nice to be coordinated sometimes, but couldn't be bothered day in day out!

Since mine is mostly black it sort of looks like it matches, but doesn't really since I bought the bras and knickers separately. I've got about six sets that are slightly different (bits of blue on them or something) but match but I don't necessarily wear the sets together as I can't always find both. So no, my underwear doesn't always match. In fact, rarely. Bless your DH for his naivety!

I have a drawer stuffed full of undies and I can safely say that not a single piece matches another. The only things that do are my socks with can hardly be described as underwear.
My DH wouldn't notice of I wore the sexist underwear or a pair of his boxer and a vest so it would be pointless for me to have them matching anyway.

I wear undies that match my clothes. I would never wear white knickers under a black skirt, or a black bra under a white shirt. So if I have black on the bottom and white on the top, my underwear wouldn't match. And of course I wear light/dark combos all the time.

And since I don't do thongs, if I am trying to avoid a knicker line, I don't wear knickers.

So no matching undies here. I think I may own one set.

But - a friend of mine works on the ambulances and she says that since she started doing that, a lot of her friends have been trying to ensure they wear matching undies in case she picks them up! I don't know how many people here have seen the undies ad where the woman won't let them cut off her clothes?

Perhaps your DH, being a GP, has only ever seen women in matching undies because they put their best on when they are going to see him and know they will need to have an exam which involves some degree of undress?

I don't really get why if you buy a new bra, you wouldn't automatically buy the matching knickers?

My undies don't match, either.

Friend tells a story: she had just bought some cute lacey thing. Boyfriend came back to her house, bag of new lingerie gets dropped on the floor, and they started getting intimate. Friend stops proceedings suddenly to put on the new lacey item. "What do you think!?" she asked modelling the new item.

"It looked better on the floor!" moans boyfriend.

I think that sums up my DH's attitude to undies, too.

LOL zebra.

scoobysnax - what if the bra you choose doesn't have undies in a style you like?

When I go to buy a new bra, I do look at the knickers but if I don't like the style, I wouldn't buy them just so I had a matching set - it would be a waste of money. I take as many bras into the changing room as possible and choose the one that has the best fit, not the one that has knickers I like or is in a particular colour/lace/style that appeals.

I do have a couple of sets of matching bra and knicks but rarely wear them as they are quite dark and would show under a lot of my tops, so most of the time I just wear the first thing I grab out of my undies draw - so no I don't match!!

In answer to your question Scoobysnax, I HATE buying lingerie and want to spend as little money as possible, so I buy a bra and then a set of 5 knicks for a tenner!!!! Good ol' M&S!!

OH get real! Def not matching here except by accident - tho I do, on occasion, make a vague attempt to wear the same colour ( and only have black and white so not too complicated there!)
And I wouldn't wear a thong for ANYONE!

I buy everything from bargin rails - they don't normally have matching sets. That said dp did once comment on it and I thought I'd but one for a treat still usually end up wearing them separately!

I think he'll be glad of ANY decent undies after these hideous maternity bras I'm wearing at the moment!

Oh bayleaf ... a thong or g-sting as I like to call it is the best invention ever ... I hate VPL and so will always choose a g-string ... not for DH but for me!
As for matching knickers and bra ... nope ... just the right colour for what I am wearing ... FWIW I really miss M&S undies ... never knew how important they were until I moved to where there is no M&S ...

THANKYOU!
Never thought of the ladies he sees in the surgery putting on their best undies for him! Most of the women he sees are about 80 (they all love him 'the nice young doctor' but I don't think they are going to be doing the whole lacy bra stuff for him!
He is very naive though - awwww!

Thongs for me too! Nothing worse than VPL. Agree with ghosty I wear my underwear for myself not for HIM. As for matching I could not be a*d digging matching stuff out the bloody drawers. Got to much to do and life is too short. I think your fella as been watching too many passionata adverts. haha only joking.

Mine always match. They are always that slighly grey colour that happens when you accidentaly wash them with something that runs

How does anyone have time to find things that match? I hardly have time to put them on in the morning!!

EmmaTMG · 18/04/2003 13:39

oh yes hmb, I forgot about all my matching grey undies. I suppose I've got loads of matching set then.

No never! My main priority is making sure they don't have any holes ...!

They have to have holes, otherwise you can't get your legs/arms into them

Almost never, tho I try to make both black if I'm going to be trying on clothes in a shop, or using a communal changing room for swimming etc. (Dont have even matching colour in anything other than black) Cant do the thong thing either. Too set in my ways, havent even tried one...

Mine don't match either. Thank heavens most other people's don't either!!!

Mine don't ever match but I also have a DH who thinks all women except me wear matching undies and I am some sort of underwear slob. If I asked him for the money for fancy underwear sets he would have a fit so I don't know how he expects me to achieve this. A couple of good fitting bras (nursing ones just now) and value packs of knickers from M&S and that's me sorted! Have enjoyed telling DH that I am not the only one!

PS Can't do thongs either, on the odd occasion I think about VPL and whip some thongs out the drawer I am always very uncomfortable and end up walking funny.
