Anyone dissapointed in the Braehead Santa?

Last Sunday, I brought my 6yr old to Braehead in the hope of ice skating. I suppose I should have phoned in advance so we were disappointed to find a grotto where the rink normally is. My ds very cheerfully decided he'd like to see Santa instead. It was £10 for a gift + photo. The gift was utter rubbish, a kind of magic pen with a secret journal. It didn't work although it was brand new. I was disgusted, every year we've been to George's Square and never expect a fab gift but have always liked it. For that price Santa could easily have given a decent book or novelty toy. My ds is easily pleased and loves that kind of thing if it works, I was so cross and meant to write to customer services but haven't had time. Moan moan.

Has anyone tried the wheel now that looks fun.

I was at Braehead today and saw the Grotto- I was thinking of taking DS age 1 there with his pal maybe next week but hmmmmm second thoughts now! Do you think it's OK for one year olds? Would the gifts be depending on age? I might try the Silverburn one instead if you think it was really crap.

You could take your son to George Sq for ice-skating? Hope he wasn't too disappointed from today.

Well ilikeyoursleeves, the Braehead grotto is v pretty and there are moving animals to look at which a 1yr old might like -just don't expect a great gift. I have an almost 1 yr old but santa is coming to his toddler group next week so we'll do that.
I've heard that New Lanark has an amazing Santa so i might do that nxt year.
We're going ice skating to Georges square on Tuesday eve. brrrrrr!

I am always disappointed in the Braehead Santa, usually because I've always had to queue about an hour and a half for a shite gift that ds isn't even interested in. Surprised that they've moved the grotto from under the stairs though, as that was a bit of a prime position.

We've taken ds to Loch Lomond shores for the past couple of years and thats always been quite good.

Going to take him to George Square this year on xmas eve and do some ice skating with him. It will be so gorgeous and traditional, iykwim!
