Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Could've slept longer, but aware going to be hot here today I need get stuff done

I am PATHETIC at attempts to drink enough.rarely feel thirsty.can go 24hrs without a drink and barely register it!!any advice break this bad habit ladies?

Singingcricket Sat 01-Jun-19 07:53:35

I know Zoo the sixth month of the year. How the jeff did that happen? shock Seriously!?

I like to get going early when it's hot too. I expire in the heat nowadays!

Water drinking tips: a timer? Set for every two hours maybe? Or what I am doing currently (for weight loss reasons) is drinking a glass of water before every meal and before bed/first thing when wake up? Or have a water bottle on you at all times and sip continuously?

Stilllivinginazoo Sat 01-Jun-19 08:06:28

Atimers a good shout.might give that a gosmile

IVEgottheDECAF Sat 01-Jun-19 08:28:46

Morning all

Its nearly christmas shock

Stilllivinginazoo Sat 01-Jun-19 08:50:45

ive were it not for fact you are adding baby dust to the thread such comments might get you sling into the pit of eternal stench<but as you are pregnant I feel decidedly protective and therefore will stand guard with medieval pike in case anyone else offers to push you ingrin>

Cats fed
Bleach lav
Wash on
Kitchen floor swept
living room floor swept
Bins emptied
Cat tray cleaned
Carrier bag of outgrown clothes added to chazza bag
Fudgy chocolate muffins in oven baking

HillsBesideTheSea Sat 01-Jun-19 09:30:32

If we can't push Ive into a pit of eternal stench would someone distract her with baked goods?
It is not fucking nearly Christmas until AFTER the 11th November and remembrance Sunday. THEN it is nearly Christmas <gavel>

Whilst I am grumping how the absolute flying fuck is it JUNE?! shock

Right to do list:
1. bath
2. empty car and take to mechanic for plan of action/booking repairs
3. remove stuff from ds' room that is not supposed to be there
4. Open curtains and window and let some light and air in
5. Spend a couple of hours stripping wall paper, measuring and generally muttering dark words and swearing
6. Consult an expert
7. Gather all the resources needed for fixing a thing
8. spend several hours muttering darkly, swearing and trying not to more break the thing.
9. Comfort eat

Also to do: all the laundry, clean the fish tank, and sod off into a hill where there are NO people!

How exciting is my day going to be be?! Can't wait <sigh>hmm

Stilllivinginazoo Sat 01-Jun-19 09:58:56

<as requested by hills chocolate fudgy muffins added to naughty corner with optional bowl of frosting and some strawberries primarily to distract I've but open to all takers>

I am impressed my oven has a cooling system that kicks in when turns off,so it's not now heating up my kitchen dreadfully!!

Second load washing on airers

Off on walk to nature reserve to see if wildflower meadow is in bloom yet..we scattered some of do mum's ashes there a couple years back and never got round taking pics for her elderly sister if it in the summer<they dont travel much, came for funeral but not for our scattering>and we only sent winter pics..
It's getting hot here,so scoutcats in situ in D's bedroom window in shade watching birds with top little window open as he's not daft enough climb thru it.kits however are mad and lay on open window ledges precariously so rest window have stay shut😔

Morning all, as usual I have been struggling a bit with keeping up with the thread but am signing in for the new month. Family fun day out with relatives today, its getting warm so about to slap on the suncream and get going.

HillsBesideTheSea Sat 01-Jun-19 10:50:10

With all due respect ive you want to talk about Christmas in June please take it to the Christmas topic. Christmas is fucking hell on earth that I DO NOT need reminding of. I hate Christmas because it mean emotional abuse, physical harm and all levels or horrible things I DON'T want to be thinking about the rest of the year. Especially when we have only just finished May which means exactly the same thing to me!

IVEgottheDECAF Sat 01-Jun-19 10:52:19

Bloody hell its a christmas wind your neck in 🙄

IVEgottheDECAF Sat 01-Jun-19 10:52:29

*christmas tree

HillsBesideTheSea Sat 01-Jun-19 10:57:58

Ive you are incredibly privileged to not understand how much of a symbolism of hell and torture a Christmas tree can represent! Not every one has been that lucky!

IVEgottheDECAF Sat 01-Jun-19 11:08:05

To be fair that could be said of most things people discuss.

Someone could have had a death in the family because of a horse.

Someone could have had their husband run off with the woman from the local cake shop.

Is all talk aside from dusting banned?

Very sorry for your trauma but think you may need a grip my dear. It was an emoji. I was not talking in depth about my plans for a hearty family christmas nor discussing my planned table decorations. I was simply speculating as we reach the sixth month of the year it wasnt actually that long until christmas. If you dislike my emojis please feel free to ignore them biscuit

HillsBesideTheSea Sat 01-Jun-19 11:10:56

It is the 1st of june which means factually there is more of the year until christmas than since christmas it is now where NEAR christmas at all.

And fine no problem.

IVEgottheDECAF Sat 01-Jun-19 11:12:25

My christmas tree goes up on 1/12 so half way there 🎄

ExpletiveDelighted Sat 01-Jun-19 11:19:09

Hills, Ive please. It was a lighthearted comment that inadvertently touched a raw nerve. Peace and love as Olivia MN used to say?

IVEgottheDECAF Sat 01-Jun-19 11:23:05

Apologies but i have never taken kindly to being told what i can and cannot MENTION

Cagliostro Sat 01-Jun-19 11:28:53

Thank you for new thread and May thread! 💐

Just working out whether I’m taking DD to Wembley or DH is. But we also need to go to town for a couple of errands including getting supplies for DD who seems to have started her period at the most inopportune time 😭😭😭 she is absolutely horrified by it despite having plenty of info already, she’s just freaking out 😰 and it’s unfortunate that she’s off to a gig and then sleeping over at her friend’s after. So she needs stuff to be able to deal with it (long term plan is washables as I think they will be less of a problem for her sensory issues but that’s not going to be practical today).

Sorry for TMI am just AAAAARGH and wasn’t expecting this quite yet!
