lawn reseeding.

I have just spread a pack of lawn seed over the lawn as it is looking a bit sorry for itself, do we have to stay off it now or will being trodden in help the seeds establish.
I am going to keep the chickens off it for a few days (which they are not going to be happy about).

I wouldn't worry about the seeds being trodden in to an already established lawn. DH is always re-seeding bald patches on ours, their biggest enemy is the lawn mower sucking them up into the grass box!
