PMK.

Thanks, Red.

@Iambuffy, I used to see Fanjo get hounded on the main board a fair bit (like TiP, I think people followed her round Angry). I only vaguely recognise the other names though.

Oh, OYBBK, I shouldn't have worried about the weather; I'm currently contemplating building an ark! ☔️☔️☔️

Well, I see that next year we are going to change the early May Bank Holiday to be on VE day to mark the 75th Anniversary. Now the French celebrate this day, 8th May, as a matter of course ‘Victoire 1945’. I wonder if our powers that be realise this? Shouldn't they be hunting around for the nearest American public holiday for us to celebrate instead?

fluffy It's been an oppressive 30-32C most of the last 2 weeks here, so already in May / early June
and now 40C (!) later this summer
Some crops will be affected too.

German friends told me the reason that air con is not so common in houses here, is that Germany didn't use to have such temperatures

No surprise so many Germans have been talking about climate change
It's one reason why many more are standing up against the AfD - who oppose climate measures and even demonised a schoolgirl for campaigning

Greens, with their own proposals for change, are v popular with the young
and now are a natural enemy of the current far right here, which is mainly funded by US big business oligarchs with oil interests

It's 16.5 degrees in tropical south west London according to my thermometer app. 🥶

Re the bank holiday - at the moment, it has only been moved in England, Wales and NI. The Scottish Government has still to confirm whether it is going to move it (public holidays being one of the things that for the moment Wink is still in its jurisdiction).

Thanks for new thread RTB
I was going to suggest 'Trump had trumped' as a title but didn't want to muscle in to your well organised plan.
It's not been that warm over where I am. Pleasant outside certainly but not hot.

Woah, that's crazy, BCF. Our seasons are buggered; you never know what to expect and when. It's really hard for crop growing as you need relatively consistent spring / summer weather for successful growing.

Loads of us have had germination issues on my allotment group too. I can't help but think it's related.

Sitting in the car waiting for the deluge to pass before going in to M&S Hmm Only 11C here Sad

And the rain just keeps coming harder and harder. I think I'm just going to have to accept getting soaked running the 100m to the doors (I'd even managed to find a space close by and still don't want to brave the cold downpour).

A weary PMK and sincere thanks to valiant RTB

I think this newish petition has value..both legally and morally as the petition itself states.

Pmk.

I was moaning about the lack of rain a few weeks ago. It’s rained almost none stop for two weeks (at least that’s what it feels like).

Yep, that conversation seems ridiculous now, doesn't it? We've had a proper soaking on the NW coast recently!

Thanks Red. I am fantasising that having a secret ballot for the Tory leadership will bring up some surprising results. The prospect of having Boris as our PM is just intolerable.

The Midwest was had rain for endless months, I think we have had at least double the norm this spring.
But no climate change to see here.
