The final *JULY 2014* The one where we ALL move to post-natal(866 Posts)
Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.
I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!
Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat
I like you optimism hayley - I reckon we might jabber our way through another 900+ posts before I pop
Morning all - thanks for the new thread Hayley and with our natter potential I do say high odds for another thread yet!
Sooo uncomfortable feel as though bump turned into low hanging heavy lead bowling ball! On/off period ache though basically whole of bump just aches EDD tomorrow and always assumed I'd be having newborn snuggles well before now as DS born at 39+4. Trying to stay positive but actually just feel like crying and weather yucky so need to entertain DS inside all day - praying he still naps well this afternoon despite lack of physical activity this morning! Sorry for moan!
zing thanks for the description, thinking it could be ligament pain or baby just generally being too big to fit in there now
just thanks for the new thread! And pains are still there when baby moves or if I'm in an upright position, just trying to get on with it and hope he makes an appearance soon!
Almost a week overdue now; come on LO!
Oops got confused with posts!
kiwi still feeling the same, thanks for asking though everyone does tell me I'll just 'know' when it happens but I'm just so desperate for something to happen I take every little twinge as a sign!!
Hiya I'm 4 days overdue and bored senseless. All I can think about is when will she get there. Have a horrible feeling I will end up being induced which means I can't go to the lovely mlu nearby. (Moan groan) I hope she comes soon!!
Oh and same as you collie. Every twinge.
Good luck Ickle, another little baby will be with us soon!
Hayley you asked yesterday (I think) about the mucus plug - possibly not the answer you were looking for but I started losing mine about a week ago and nothing has happened yet. Mine started after a sweep though so it might be different if it happens naturally?
41+3 here and still nothing happening. Looks like induction is on the cards for me. Seeing the midwife (another one as mine isn't working today) shortly and am going to see if I can get sweep number 3. Seems pretty clear they only work if things are imminent anyway but it's worth a try.
I'm ok(ish) with the pessary part of the induction process but really, really want to avoid the drip. I'm not sure if I can just have the pessary but then ask to be monitored for a couple of days instead if that doesn't get things going? Will see what the midwife says. Not sure if I can use the maternity lead unit/birthing pool after the pessary too?
Was doing ok but now I'm getting a bit down that my body doesn't seem to know what to do and also am fretting that it's because the baby isn't in a good position so I'm going to end up with a CS anyway. Come on baby!
Ahh Lucy, cross-posted. Sounds like we are in a similar place but you do still have time on your side, a good week and a bit. Fingers crossed.
Collie, I keep hoping every twinge might be an early contraction. I know if I ever get any then I'll get a firm reality check that contractions are much more painful than the twinges I've been having!
lucy I'm really hoping to use my MLU too. Fingers crossed things get going naturally!
mrsa that's a good idea re:pessaries then monitoring, at midwife on Tuesday so I think I might ask the same. Can't think of anything worse than being restricted by being attached to a drip!
Another one assessing every twinge here! Was getting some pretty strong tightenings etc early Monday and thought it was all go but since then been v few and far between
Offered DH a lift to work this morning (he normally takes the bus) as on a late so meant we got some time together and gave DS and I a little outing. DH moaned the whole way there about how tired he is and that he's not getting any me time/downtime and we ended up having a v heated conversation about it all leaving me in tears and v annoyed! I do get that it's not easy for him working all day then getting home to v active/demanding toddler and overtired very pregnant hormonal wife but it is just a season of life at the moment! Has just left me feeling even more rough than I already felt this morning and quite fed up
On the plus side I've managed drawing, playdough and now built a den with DS since we got home! Really hoping he naps well this afternoon!
collie Lucy MrsA2 sorry you also feeling frustrated at lack of labour progress!!
ickle thinking of you today!
Back from the midwife after sweep number 3. No change from Tuesday so looks like induction for me.
She was pretty unclear as to whether you can do pessary and then monitoring only, she said you'd need to negotiate it at the time. 'Negotiate' didn't sound that positive...
Think I'll go in, get monitored and checked and then make a decision then. Bishop score is 5 which isn't great for induction... Feeling a bit down and sorry for myself now.
So sorry so many of you seem to having DH issues. It must be frustrating for them, but they just don't get how much more frustrating it is for us! I'm feeling irrationally annoyed with mine because he's going out tonight after work. Two of his friends have become Advocates (Scots equivalent of Barristers) so they're having drinks to celebrate; so it's a good time for DH to let off steam, congratulate his friends and do some networking. I'm just grouchy because I'll have to deal with DD by myself and she's not fun in the evenings!
(I made a biggish post in the old thread before realising this one was active but will leave it all there, apart from to wish ickle all the best!)
MrsA How frustrating. Hope your baby and body get in tune asap for you.
Just seen consultant and now we have ELSC booked for the 28th, when I'll be 13 days over.
that's it. baby will be here in 17 days no matter what.
I should really make an effort to pack bags.
looking at boxes doesn't count, does it?
it was so weird that she offered me a sweep - I'm not even due till Tuesday!
in fact I should book one or two sweeps for next week but I don't think I will.
I really have got it in my head that it's best if baby is born once kids broke up from school (Wed 23rd) as it would be more practical.
so I think I will book a sweep for Monday 21st or so.
if baby decides to come before that of course that's fine, but I need more time so I won't force it.
Am I totally weird/nuts for not wanting to get on with it?
Blue I wish you were closer. We sound in a very similar place apart from DS was 8 days late so always thought I would go over with this one and so it wasn't really a surprise. Thankfully DS is playing really nicely and far happier today so haven't gone food shopping (that was going to be our mornings distraction) but the downside is we don't have much food!! And sorry your DH is feeling sorry for himself and being a bit of a twat (don't take offence!). I've just had heated words with mine as he tries to make out that I am miserable due to being pregnant and sleep deprived rather than due to the IM. I accept that neither of those help but the f'@*ing IM does have a massive impact especially as it isn't just 17 hours a week out the house training, it is the driving to and from where he is training, the sports massages, chiro appts and everything else which really makes the time add up. 9 weeks on Sunday and then it will all be over. And if he does another one then so will be our marriage. I don't have a problem with him heading out on his bike for a few hours a few times a week but this has been 6 days a week for the last 5 months. Too much. Especially when you have a child.
Really uncomfortable as well as miserable. Bowling ball doesn't feel as though it can get any lower without falling out.... Makes walking/doing anything particularly uncomfortable. On a brighter note did weigh myself this morning and am over a stone lighter with this one. Have only put on 1 1/2 stone this time and seem to have got lighter rather than heavier in the last few weeks? I think baby is squashing all of my organs and especially my stomach as the bump isn't that big.
Hope everyone is doing ok. And thanks for the shiny new thread.
And you aren't weird at all zing. I get it. Whilst I am seriously uncomfortable I am a little in denial that by this time next week I should have another baby. Absolutely bloomin terrifying. But the pleasure of hopefully being flexible again is rather exciting!
zing no don't think your nuts at all. You now have a backstop date at a time that works for you and anything that happens before then means you (should) avoid the op. Sounds quite win-win to me!
secretly wonders if I could do some similar planning but not sure booking elcs is right was forward for me
DS asleep, I'm trying to nap or at least lie down but heartburn back again and the mere taste of gaviscon is making me feel v v sick plus still hoping all the weird pains I've got might suddenly change into full contractions so am not really v relaxed!
Zing I don't think you're weird in wanting baby to arrive at a time when it will least disrupt the rest of the family. You might be hoping in vain of course but there's nothing wrong with hope.
In the 'things you can all look forward to' category, I cut my own toenails yesterday. Watch me go!
A phrase we're attempting to eliminate from our vocabulary is 'surely she can't still be hungry after x hrs / y mls of feeding' because the answer is always yes, yes she can. And the sooner we figure that out, the sooner she will settle.
X-post Inca we all just need to hang in there (somehow) til we get these babies out and then deal with the next phase of life, which will no doubt also have it's challenges but being able to put the
bowling ball baby down somewhere else to sleep and actually be able to move around without being quite so uncomfortable will be a definite bonus/good start
ismarah lol at cutting toenails I struggled to cut/paint mine last week and they already look a state again (swear they're growing at double speed) but have just concluded they'll now have to manage til post birth as my flexibility to get to them is zero, just hoping I don't go over by 2 weeks or may have to come up with another plan!
Re feeding sounds as though your little lady is a proper guzzler! DS was similar!
Thanks for all your support, I'm glad I'm not
oh I would love to avoid a C-section, but induction is not an option for me (due to previous ELSC)
my reasoning for no sweeps next week is that even on the Friday (18th) I'll be just 3 days over, so a sweep is unlikely to work if cervix is not ready.
and if it, is why bother?
so I'd rather have the weekend spent not fretting.
Monday 21st is a different ballgame altogether.
I'll be 6 days over so not only more likely a sweep will help, but
I beat you there as I can still cut my toenails! admittedly not as easily....
oops, unfinished sentence!
so I think on Monday 21st a sweep is more likely to work and I will probably feel more relaxed and ready with school year ending in sight.
I am so glad it's Friday now and baby hasn't come yet.
I will sort my bags tonight & tomorrow. I have gone through 8 boxes of baby stuff (aged 0-18 months, some boxes quite mixed up) and washed car seat cover.
slowly-slowly I'm getting there.
Toenails: I treated myself to a pedicure this morning, which was clearly required as I managed to cut my foot open yesterday by brushing against the overgrown talons on my other foot.
DH/DP issues: was just thinking that DH has really done nothing at all proactive to prepare for this baby. I dragged him round John Lewis once looking at buggies, and cornered him in the car once to discuss names, and he came to all the NCT classes. But that's about it.
Marking my place on new thread to say good luck to everyone still awaiting their July arrival. Thanks for all your congratulations on last thread! Sorry went AWOL for a couple of days but today has been one long cluster feed and my brain isn't up to writing long posts yet. We're doing ok though, DH is doing a fab job of feeding, changing and looking after both of us (I feel bad that I get the most cuddle time just because L wants to feed so much!)
Have posted a couple of pics of L on FB page.
C'mon July babies!
