My dd is 23 and an apprentice so part of her time is spent in college

WhySoSensitive · 13/05/2021 19:24

No? Why would anyone?

I was 25. There was 30 and 40 year olds in my class.

OhTheIronyOfItAll · 13/05/2021 19:24

No.
When I was at college prior to uni there was someone on our course who was a similar age. They had just moved back from the States. No one thought it was unusual.

CecilyP · 13/05/2021 19:25

I taught a National Certificate class age range 16 to 53. Why are you asking?

titchy · 13/05/2021 19:26

Further Education college no. Sixth form college yes.

AlmostSummer21 · 13/05/2021 19:29

What sort of college? 6th form or further education?

If 6th form, then yes, I'd find it unusual, because it is, but wouldn't think much of it, I'd just assume you had a reason to choose this option (teen pregnancy, illness, came from Overseas & needed a U.K. quality to go into further education)

woodhill · 13/05/2021 19:32

If they have an EHCP often they can be in an FE college in their early 20s

Helmetbymidnight · 13/05/2021 19:32

no, why?

littlepattilou · 13/05/2021 19:33

Do you mean college like sixth form/technical college type place? Yes, unusual in the sense that I would expect them to be younger. But who cares, if they need the qualification then they can get it and be out of there in a year or two.

Longdistance · 13/05/2021 19:35

When I was at college there was a lady on our course that was in her 50’s. She was great.

Divineswirls · 13/05/2021 19:36

No not at all.

What a strange question.

millymoo1202 · 13/05/2021 19:37

No, I went when I was 40!

Ginuwine · 13/05/2021 19:37

@User442992286

Or not?
Why the minimalist drip feed with no context?

Is this your DD's boyfriend or something. ? And you're trying to quantify whether it's criticisable for him to be in college at that age and not working?

Is this your DD and you're wanting to work out what's normal?

Context would help..

HughGrantsHair · 13/05/2021 19:38

No. Not at all. You can retrain at any point of your life.

ThursdayWeld · 13/05/2021 19:39

Somebody older than 20 getting an education? What a freak!

AhNowTed · 13/05/2021 19:40

Bizarre question, of course not!

PamwichShilling · 13/05/2021 19:40

Not at all unusual.

coldswimmer88 · 13/05/2021 19:40

Wouldn't most 21 year olds be in college (if you mean university)?

Cheesypea · 13/05/2021 19:45

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/05/2021 19:46

MajorNeville · 13/05/2021 19:49
