To be confused as to why nobody else's teeth cringe?

A bit of a lighthearted post, I didn't really know where to put this but for as long as I've known certain textures have made me feel phenomenally uncomfortable and I can only describe as my teeth cringing. These include, toilet paper, wet cardboard, the stuff in nappies and sanitary towels cotton wool. I've talked about this to my partner, parents and a few friends and none have an idea what I'm on about. Someone please tell me they know what I'm on about before because I can't be the only person? Grin

It’s not my teeth that do it, it’s underneath my fingernails! Never known anyone else to experience similar Grin

I don't like metal glasses because the feeling of the arms on the ears sets my teeth on edge. Think it might be a similar feeling!

DS loathes cotton wool, it makes him shudder when he touches it.

Yes! Only I'd say "it makes my teeth itch"...

Mine 100% cringe.
Cotton wool is the worst. Whilst working as a carer, I once met a lady who needed washing and drying solely with cotton wool. Wet to wash her with and then dry for drying. I shuddered my way out of her house clutching my teeth while phoning the office to tell them I refuse Grin

Yes!! I know what you mean, my teeth cringe the most at the thought of polystyrene, but also cotton wool and wet paper/cardboard and blackboards and chalk (shudder).

Yep I get it, when my kids grind their rubber dummies in their mouth I need to bite down on something to make the cringe stop

Wooden spoons! Ugh.

Can barely touch them. My brother used to pick up a wooden spoon and put it in his mouth and I would literally run out the room.

I call it 'teeth itching'. My husband thinks I'm insane.

Oh I do feel relieved, my daughter was ripping bit of tissue paper earlier with damp hands and I had to turn away and call my partner to stop her. He called me dramatic which I can understand to a point Grin

Yep. Someone scraping cutlery against a plate does it to me.
Someone rubbing wool together does it to my brother.

Woollen sleeves being chewed makes my teeth cringe. So do sponges. I have to rub my top lip against my teeth to stop it.

If a see a video of someone falling over on concrete (you’ve been framed style) it makes my coccyx/lower back physically wince. It sometimes travels up to my shoulders and arms.

I get if I can hear someone else brushing their teeth, even on TV. It's fine if I brush mine, just other people!

It’s wet lolly pop sticks for me! Make my teeth itch

Yes! I say it makes me teeth itch too. I feel it when I see stray hairs on clothes. A girl I used to sit behind in school had beautiful thick hair but all the loose hairs seemed to gather under the armpits of the nasty, squeaky school jumpers we had to wear.

I have major cringe with wet tissue paper. I can cope with a paper towel, but anything thinner than that just gives me the shudders.

I'm like that with dry stuff, even typing this makes my fingertips feel funny. I'm talking about unglazed terracotta pots. My Dad was the same about cotton wool. When aspirin was in bottles they used to put cotton wool in the top. It didn't matter how much pain my Dad was in, he couldn't take it out, and he couldn't watch while we took it out for him!

For me it's fingertips passing over dry wood, particularly if the skin on my fingertips is a bit dry. My jaw muscles go all weak.
