It is seriously disgustign that people still think this is okay. It is not okay. what message does it steach the child? (its okay to hit someone if they dont do what you tell them?)

and for an adult who is physically so much bigger and stronger to hit a child? omg, serioulsy peopl wake the fuck up... it is NOT OKAY!

Lil - I do hoep the next time u decide not to make your dp/dh a cuppa when he asks for one he gives you a good hard smack.... and see how u like it...

GoodGollyMissMolly Sat 18-Aug-07 20:42:10

at dabbles!!!!!!!

I agree with you BTW re the whole smacking children thing.
But theres no need for that, everyone has their own way of doing things and their own opinion on things and to say such a horrible thing to someone expresing their opinion is disgusting.

If you want a reasond debate then fair enough but you are not going to get it saying things like that.

chuck some popcorn this way nomdeplume

nutcracker Sat 18-Aug-07 20:46:07

Which thread ?

GoodGollyMissMolly Sat 18-Aug-07 20:47:51

LOL at Anwe, I'm a relative newbie, is this where we all don the hard hats and buckle up?

I've got giant pretzels if anyone wants any.

Mercy Sat 18-Aug-07 20:48:09

Dabbles, you are exaggerating for just for effect with that example.

You also said on the other thread that smacking at home leads to children hitting and smacking others at school.

Do you have any direct experience or proof of this?

nutcracker - the "are u a shouter or a smacker"

how could someone openly discuss abusing their child like that?

(in general, so u r saying your 2 yr old dd who weighs about 22lbs stressed u out so u smack them? oh and thats OKAY??? no one said that bte, but u get the jist...)

Mercy Sat 18-Aug-07 20:50:07

nutcracker, look for a thread along the lines of 'Are you a shouter' - about 2 days ago.

Dabbles Sat 18-Aug-07 20:51:38

Mercy - no dont htink i am exaggerating.. well not by much...

yes, there was a boy at my dds nursery who used to constantly hit other children. and his mother 'smakced' him all the time.. only little smacks.. surely it didnt do him any harm...

pretzels will do nicely Am too bone idle to get my ass off sofa to go in my own kitchen.

<whispers.. fwiw i dont tend to discipline my dc with smacking but i have on very rare occassion done so and felt shit for it.. hence threads like this really dont help>

Mercy Sat 18-Aug-07 20:52:12

dabbles, read the original thread and quote properly.

You are exaggerating again.

nutcracker Sat 18-Aug-07 20:52:32

Oh don't think I saw that, but lately I am both so anyway.

I do smack, very very rarely but yep I do, and did infact smack Dd2 today.

No am not proud of it at all but if I am totally honest, it is the very least of my worries at the mo.

GoodGollyMissMolly Sat 18-Aug-07 20:52:37

There is no difference dabbles and let me reiterate my post to you, I agree with you regarding the whole smacking of children, I dont think it is right in the slightest, but for you to say and I quote,

Lil - I do hoep the next time u decide not to make your dp/dh a cuppa when he asks for one he gives you a good hard smack.... and see how u like it...

Is totaly out of line. How can you say you are against smacking kids but you use the argument of domestic violence to try and get your point accross.

ggmm...definately hard hat time...yup...
