I agree OP, that is not the way to go when naming twins. People think of twins as a set when really they are two completely separate human beings who are individual (even if they are identity!) and deserve to be named and treated that way.

I also work in a school and have had some matchy matchy twins. Also had brother and sister, not twins, called Joseph and Josephine

Agree @Gatehouse77 about the same initial. Makes me cringe. My mom's second cousin (way back in the 1970's and 1980's,) had five children, with names ALL beginning with the letter A.

No it's not but some people seem to have this weird desire to lump multiples together with match names often starting with the same letter or ending with the same sound it's mind boggling.

It's not just twins that suffer. I saw some adorable triplets in town the other day stopped and chatted as you do asking their names. Mum proudly replies Star, Nova and Stella

Lynette and Lynne were one and the same person in Eastenders I believe. Lynne being the short form. Like Kat Slater is Kathleen Slater.

I agree that this is an extreme example. But people do it to some extent with siblings who are not twins, too. How often do you see posts here 'stuck for a name for DC3. What names go with Aloysius and Hecate?'

Just give the child its own individual name. Hardly anyone but you will know or care whether it goes with its siblings' names.
