Is Disney Land Paris worth a visit?

Daisydrum · 20/08/2018 20:44

I’ve got two DCs and we are looking for a holiday with DH and DM. I suggested Disney Land Paris as it’s quite close and we are big Disney fans. DH and DM both turned their nose up at the idea. I’d be interested to know what other people think? Thanks.

We enjoyed it, well before we caught Norovirus. We found the park really charming. I haven't been to Florida though only Disney in Anaheim.

If you have been to Florida, you won't like it. Its a bit naff in comparison. If you haven't you will probably enjoy it.
We went a few years ago and weren't impressed but have both been to Florida.

We enjoyed it in July.

I’d been before but DH hasn’t. He enjoyed the rides, I sat and sulked because I was pregnant and couldn’t go on anything (even though we went for me, as a birthday treat!)

Anyway, yes. It’s worth it :)

We enjoyed it. DH and I have been to Florida, but the DDs hadn't. We had 4 enjoyable days there, preceded by 4 days in Paris. Not overly Disney fans, but go with the flow and it is fun.

No, I didn't like it. I thought it was run down and a bit naff, to be honest.

We are not 'Disney" people, everyone we mentioned it to who hadn't been said 'Oooh, you poor things', everyone who had been said 'You'll have an amazing time' . We had an opportunity to go 'off peak' when kids were 4 and 7, so we went. We had a wonderful time, really glad we went, and never need to do it again, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Recommend staying in Davy Crockett Ranch as we did - it's off site, has a nice pool and you can decompress from the intensity of the main park. Plus you can self cater, which saves a lot of money (food is expensive and not good there). We went in early each day, went elsewhere middle of the day and came back to park late afternoon to avoid crowds, but we had 4 nights with a special offer, and 4 whole days would have been too much! But if your kids are of an age to appreciate it, utterly worth it. Especially if you don't feel them where you are going! Grin

tell them, not 'feel' them, LOL!

Id go as a day trip from Paris. Its not as big as the one in Florida. But yes its certainly worth a visit. I loved it as a child and I never even really liked Disney that much.

It's very superficial. All the façades are quite pretty, but once you get inside everything is identical (and terribly poor quality) in all the shops.
The food is rubbish and horifically overpriced and with very little choice.
My kids enjoyed a few of the rides, but we spent most of the day queuing.
Have you considered Europapark? I spent a day there with my teens and the whole family loved it!

We've been to Florida and we still love Paris, it's convenient to be able to have a short, cheaper trip when you can't afford Florida.

Definitely recommend, and after with the PP who suggested Davy Crockett, would also recommend Newport Bay

If your Disney fans I would save your money and just go Florida

I went there before I went to Florida and I’m glad I did it that way round. That said I’d still go there for a day or two as DD would love to go again.

It's quite depressing and run down. Maybe if your kids are tiny? We went when ours 4 and 6 they never mention it now. The one in Anaheim is good. Find it odd how someBrits see Disney as some quasi religious experience the Americans we met saw it as a fun but run of the mill theme park which it is.

I went this year on a work trip and didn’t expect to like it, I’m far from a Disney person! I loved it though, got sucked in with small works and before I knew it I was wearing Minnie ears Grin

My daughter and I went this year for 4 days and loved it. We booked an on-site hotel and had breakfast with lots of Characters. We met all her favourites including The Incredibles and Stich and the interaction was fantastic. The rides were great and the shows amazing. Parades, dances, marches, interactive 3D shows and fireworks every night. The staff are helpful and friendly and make it magical. We plan to go again soon.

If you like queuing for hours, eating crap food that is eye wateringly expensive, Contacting norovirus, and wishing you had spent the money on something else (its not a cheap break) then yeah go for it

Yes. Absolutely loved it!

We went last June and again this June too with our DS, I will always remember him with the characters (he's 4 so thinks they're real and it was so special)

Hated it. We went one new year when dd was 4. It was the biggest load of shite I have ever wasted money on. It's naff. When we were there dd actually said 'when are going to the real Disneyland'. T'was like a dagger to our hearts.

However, we have recently been to Florida and it was truly magical.

I'd never go back to Disney land Paris.

It depends on your ability to connect with your inner child I think. We love it but we go with the flow, take time to soak up the atmosphere and don’t do the racing around and stressing that a lot of prone seem to do. We’ve been to Florida but Paris will always be my favourite.

My daughter and I were just saying this morning we need another trip as we’ve not been for a couple of years.

There’s only one way to find out for sure though - for every person who loves it, you’ll find another who hates it, so there isn’t a lot of point asking strangers to be honest.
