In a fairly new relationship (1 year) and DP early 30s is house hunting and wants my input. Just found out his budget - he is a FTB, London-based with a 300k deposit. Genuinely gobsmacked.

Sorry posted too soon. Needed to discuss really as don’t feel able to share with people irl

Battleax Wed 16-May-18 16:59:26

That’s nice.

Battleax Wed 16-May-18 16:59:53

X post.

What do you want to discuss? Are you buying jointly?

Raraoh Wed 16-May-18 17:00:32

Not buying jointly no

ZeroFuchsGiven Wed 16-May-18 17:00:56

What are you gobsmacked about?

M00nUnit Wed 16-May-18 17:00:59

What's your AIBU?

mimibunz Wed 16-May-18 17:01:22

What’s FTB? Anyway, it’s just money. What’s he like as a person and a partner?

melissasummerfield Wed 16-May-18 17:01:29

What is your issue?

sexnotgender Wed 16-May-18 17:02:09

Hope he’s got a good paper trail for a deposit that size.

All I can say is, lucky him. He's being given a deposit which is more than my house is worth!!

Battleax Wed 16-May-18 17:02:43

First time buyer Mimi.

Trinity66 Wed 16-May-18 17:03:11

What’s FTB?

Str4ngedaysindeed Wed 16-May-18 17:03:36

How lovely. Or something.

Trinity66 Wed 16-May-18 17:03:56

First time buyer, is this like a kind of braggy thread then or what?, I don't get it lol

He’s a great partner and a good person. I’ve also never bought property so I guess also wanted to input on things like what to look for and where to buy? I’ll be helping

Raraoh Wed 16-May-18 17:05:17

Don’t understand the vitriol - it’s not my money. And I won’t have a claim to it really. He’s a humble person from normal circumstances. I just wanted to discuss

lessthanBeau Wed 16-May-18 17:05:28

Who gifted it to him?

CuriousaboutSamphire Wed 16-May-18 17:05:38

First Time Buyer

And, what is the problem? He is buying himself a house with a humongous deposit. You aren't a solid couple yet but he is excited enough to ask for your input.

So, erm, enjoy his house hunting. It sounds like fun!

ZeroFuchsGiven Wed 16-May-18 17:05:58

I don't understand what you want to discuss.

Battleax Wed 16-May-18 17:06:11

You want us to help you, help a bloke spend his family’s money on a house? For himself?

Can’t he manage himself if he’s deemed competent to give that much money to?

What’s the AIBU?
