To hold a reveal party for....

My new house?
I'm thinking I could do with some cash as buying a new house is very expensive.
So after the wave of baby shower/gender reveal/henparties/stag parties/weddings etc etc
I've thought of having a kitchen reveal party!!!!!
It would go something along the lines of
Please come to my kitchen reveal party, where I will reveal the worktops/surfaces/units I have chosen, along with flooring choice.
Please bring either a starter, main or pudding plus a bottle of fizz, make sure it is not from Aldi !!!!
Please no cheap crap!
I will enclose a gift list but really really would prefer cash.
If you do happen to bring a gift( and not cash, which is much preferred,) then it must be only from the list and on no account be from any other shop than John Lewis
If you do not live near a John Lewis then please give me cash.

I'll include a tacky poem too.

Anyone who doesn't come will be deleted from my friends list on fb after I have posted a sarcastic meme about only true friends support you in times of need and those who don't can fuck off and die!

What do you think?

I hear you. When we bought a holiday home I regretted getting married a few years before and telling people not to give us anything. I really could have done with toasters, towels and wine glasses.

I would think you were the idiot....

OP I think it’s a marvellous idea, you could expand on it gradually doing room by room and fully cash in Grin

Oh, I'm buying a house and I've never been on the receiving end of any of those events. What a great idea. Grin

Nope, sorry but still an idiot.
For something this good, you need marquees on the lawn, stringed quartet playing-or possibly just a harp, twinkling fairy lights and fireworks. A normal reveal party just won't cut it.

Migraleve. That's a good point.
A living room reveal whereby the choice of decor will be revealed along with the choice of sofa and curtains!
Guests could then exchange tales of woe about how they wish they had dated to dash out on s not of couloir, but stuck to neutrals and jars containing sticks and pebbles.

Go all out with a champagne reception and local celebrity cutting the ribbon and it will be perfect Halloween Grin

You could also charge entry. Pretend you’re the queen.

Some brilliant ideas.
Champagne on arrival - of course the guests will provide this.
Charging too- yes of course.
Plus perhaps a raffle? The prize could be a free invite to the next room reveal party!!!!

Oh of course no children.
Even though the party will be held at the weekend during the day.
I shall also draw up a seating plan, ensuring that friends are not seated together.

Do it. It’ll be like that awful Hammonds advert where the woman has all her friends queueing up to look at her ‘new fitted bedroom’.

You need to find a way to make this a two-tier event, with some guests invited for the whole event and others to just a few hours, or even better, invite some for the beginning of the event, then chuck them out, then invite them back for the end.

Do it OP. Arrive by 'copter for extra class.
