To make a complaint about this security guard.

I went to a music gig in London last night with dp. We queued up and as we went to enter, men were asked to be on the right and women on the left to be searched. All fine, my bag was searched by a polite female security guard and I thanked her and moved forward.

I was then called over by another female security guard who snatched my bag off me and searched it again. I politely said that the previous lady had searched it, but nothing else. She then patted me down and barked 'move!' when she had finished. Again I thanked her and went to move away. I then realised that I couldn't see dp, and wouldn't be able to go in without him as he had the ticket confirmation and we needed to collect the tickets on entry.

I only paused for a second before spotting him, and the security guard shoved me hard in the bottom of my back while again barking 'move!' and then started a loud rant about people causing problems and this is why it gets 'all fucked up'.

The hard shove was completely unnecessary and actually quite painful. The security guard was clearly angry, and I had been nothing but cooperative and polite. I was happy to be searched, and had not been disruptive in any way. We were near the front of the queue so there hadn't been lots of trouble before me and I honestly can't see any good reason for her to treat someone like this.

Would you complain about this or just forget it?

No way would I forget

Definitely complain

DearMrDilkington · 27/02/2017 11:26

That's terrible! I'd definitely complain! Kick up a fuss and you may even get some free ticketsGrin

Stormwhale · 27/02/2017 11:28

She was just so angry. From the second she called me over her attitude was awful. The only reason I can think she would be like that was it was a grime gig, and there was the potential for issues. There were a lot of quite rough looking people, smoking drugs in the queue etc, but I was clearly not being problematic.

It was at the o2 academy in Islington. Would I be best to contact them directly or the company we booked the tickets through?

What was the music venue?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/02/2017 11:30

She shoved you. She shouldn't be putting her hands on anyone. That's assault. Damn right you complain

highinthesky · 27/02/2017 11:30

Thanks, will avoid O2 Islington

Aeroflotgirl · 27/02/2017 11:31

Yes I would complain, totally unprofessional.

Aeroflotgirl · 27/02/2017 11:31

Yes that is what I was thinking, it was assault!

highinthesky · 27/02/2017 11:32

Btw security guards, hospitality etc all tend to be agency. Be as descriptive as you can about your assailents in your complaint.

PixieGrace · 27/02/2017 11:32

I'd complain to the venue and say you will be reporting the incident to the police unless they can prove that they are dealing with it seriously.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/02/2017 11:33

There was quite a lot of rough looking people smoking drugs in the queue ect and being quite problematic

Well that's why you were targeted. They're too shit scared to approach the trouble makers.

Stormwhale · 27/02/2017 11:33

I was just really shocked. Had I thought about it properly, I would have asked for her name so I could complain properly. I can describe her well though, do you think that would be enough?

OP posts:
thedancingbear · 27/02/2017 11:34

damn right I'd complain. it's not crime of the century, but it's definitely assault - she's no right to physically shove you around. There will certainly be cctv at the door and the O2 will almost certainly take your complaint seriously. their staff aren't meant to manhandle the punters

help.academymusicgroup.com/complaints-and-feedback/

Can anyone find the contact form? It keeps telling me to do that but I can't find it.

I just have to pick my dd up from preschool, but will come back to this in a bit. Thank you for the advice so far, I'm glad that you are all taking it seriously as I found it quite upsetting. Thank you.

Does the venue have a Facebook page? That would probably be the best place to complain. Companies usually deal with a complaint more speedily and efficiently if it's a public complaint!

YANBU. There was no need at all for her to put her hands on you at all.

Pigflewpast · 27/02/2017 17:07

If you want them to view the CCTV you'll need to phone them as it will probably only stay a couple of days before overwriting.

alltouchedout · 27/02/2017 17:23

Oh definitely complain. It's ones like her who give security guards a bad name.
