To make a complaint about this security guard.

I went to a music gig in London last night with dp. We queued up and as we went to enter, men were asked to be on the right and women on the left to be searched. All fine, my bag was searched by a polite female security guard and I thanked her and moved forward.

I was then called over by another female security guard who snatched my bag off me and searched it again. I politely said that the previous lady had searched it, but nothing else. She then patted me down and barked 'move!' when she had finished. Again I thanked her and went to move away. I then realised that I couldn't see dp, and wouldn't be able to go in without him as he had the ticket confirmation and we needed to collect the tickets on entry.

I only paused for a second before spotting him, and the security guard shoved me hard in the bottom of my back while again barking 'move!' and then started a loud rant about people causing problems and this is why it gets 'all fucked up'.

The hard shove was completely unnecessary and actually quite painful. The security guard was clearly angry, and I had been nothing but cooperative and polite. I was happy to be searched, and had not been disruptive in any way. We were near the front of the queue so there hadn't been lots of trouble before me and I honestly can't see any good reason for her to treat someone like this.

Would you complain about this or just forget it?

I work as security at these type of events and you should definitely complain to the venue, and yes be as descriptive as you can. Unfortunately tho, as previously mentioned, it is likely she was agency or sub-contracted in, so its likely that nothing will happen to her, apart from probably being moved to another venue. However if the venue get too many complaints about the security being aggressive, the company supplying the staff may be removed and another brought in.

Just asked DP about this (13 years in security work of all forms) and he said absolutely complain to the company she worked for. There was no reason to be so rude and certainly no reason to shove you at all. In fact, if she wasn't in possession of an SIA badge (the badge that allows them to work) in full view on display, then she broke the law by touching you at all.

I would report it to the police personally shoving you is assault.

Unfortunately the Police would not be very interested in that.

The security company will probably contracted out and it would be doubtful that O2 would take any responsibility for security staff. If you look on the t&c of your ticket it will more than likely say that they can search you at anytime even if you have already just been searched. It doesn't excuse her agressive behaviour but without a badge (sia) number, which all security should be wearing, I'm not sure your report would get far.

I hope I'm wrong op, but I'm just relaying my experiences of thuggish security.
