AIBU to think that having paid to see Florence at BTS Hyde Park, I shouldn't have to put up with other people's children

I went to the BTS festival today and was lying on a blanket in the sun listening to some cool tunes when a family turned up and sat down a few yards away. Parents got in pints and pints of beer and settled down for some tunes whilst children ran up and down between my husband and I screaming and playing tricky. The band playing was a rapper and every other word was fxxxck. Am I being unreasonable to think that this was not a suitable
venue
for children who were very distracting for the rest of us who were there for the music.

I have just come back from Florence and while I agree that Kendrick Lamar was foul, I can't quite get my head around your afternoon being upset by ONE family. The plan was heaving with people, children, loud teenagers and some drunk/stoned people. We moved place twice during the afternoon as various bits of the park filled up and became uncomfortable to sit in - why didn't you just move elsewhere?

What does 'playing tricky' mean?

BillSykesDog Sun 03-Jul-16 01:11:35

Like Tricky the rapper? Or is it a game?

HarrietSchulenberg Sun 03-Jul-16 01:11:47

You went to an outdoor gig full of human life and were pissed off because some kids made a bit of noise?
Stay at home and put your headphones on. Or just move your blanket.

Tricky. Tricky tricky tricky.

hotdiggedy Sun 03-Jul-16 01:16:23

That would have been annoying, but what exactly IS tricky?

GiddyOnZackHunt Sun 03-Jul-16 01:28:46

Daytime park concert. People bring childrem. Shocker confused

KissMyArse Sun 03-Jul-16 01:50:04

"playing cool tunes" "playing tricky"

Am I in some kind of timewarp 1960's hippy vs 1980's rapper throwback thread confused

KissMyArse Sun 03-Jul-16 02:04:27

(sorry, should have read "listening to cool tunes")

Just5minswithDacre Sun 03-Jul-16 02:21:51

Kiss grin

trafalgargal Sun 03-Jul-16 03:21:21

Yes - you should have moved/

<giggling a bit about a rap fan complaining about inappropriate noise....isn't that what rap is anyway ? >

VioletBam Sun 03-Jul-16 04:22:17

This is the nature of that kind of event OP. The family in question were rude but they don't owe you anything. Why didn't you just move?

U2HasTheEdge Sun 03-Jul-16 04:36:04

YABU

Mainly for saying 'cool tunes' and 'playing tricky'

FoxesOnSocks Sun 03-Jul-16 04:53:01

I'm only posting this to discover what sort of game 'tricky' is.

Didn't anyone boogie on down to these cool tunes?

steff13 Sun 03-Jul-16 05:20:02

You know it, daddy-o.

I, too, am posting to find out what tricky is. Google was no help.

And biscuit for using the words "cool tunes" and "tricky".

Mislou Sun 03-Jul-16 06:27:30

I want to know this word 'tricky 'too.

SpiceLinerandHoneyLove Sun 03-Jul-16 09:01:41

It was a festival. Haven't you been to one before?
Perhaps try The Albert Hall for your cool tunes in future.

Bambooshoots14 Sun 03-Jul-16 09:08:30

Another tricky placemarker....

Bambooshoots14 Sun 03-Jul-16 09:09:00

I agree to a degree with PPs but it sounds from your description that you were both lying on a blanket and the children were running between you over your blanket? If so that would piss me off too... If they were just running around near you, YABU.
