AIBU?

Beach towels used in the bathroom

AIBU? Recently returned from our Corsica holiday. Before we went I invested in some lovely beach towels. DH keeps using them in the bathroom and hanging them on the towel rack. AIBU to be irritated?

YABU - a towel is a towel is a towel. If they are so lovely, why keep them shut up in the airing cupboard for 50 weeks a year instead of getting them out and using them?!

Umm, towels are towels aren't they? Maybe he really enjoyed his holiday and wants to feel like he's still there.

I just grab the first clean towel I see...one of my favourites is a universal studios beach towel that my parents got me when I was 10. It's had 24 years of service and still does the job.

I'm guessing maybe my house doesn't look like your house.

They are towels. Do you intend to use them for two weeks a year?

I always use beach towels - nice size, colourful and great quality. And they don't get used enough to 'save' them for best!

Huh?

People save beach towels for the beach? Confused

If you put them away in a cupboard he won't be able to use them

I prefer a beach towel. Mainly because I get hair dye on my plain towels, even weeks after I've dyed my hair.

Why not? Confused

Unless the OP has husband proof cupboard locks? Grin

Yabu. Beach towels are always massive so a bonus for drying yo self covering a fat arse

My beach towels live in the loft for 50 weeks per year.
They're too garish for the bathroom.
If I leave them in the cupboard they get used and I don't like it.
So, I'm with you, OP.

I don't have beach towels in the bathroom because I like things to match. Blush

But my kids take them swimming, so they get plenty of use.

Is it just me then?
I always save them for holidays and for the children's swimming lessons as they are lovely, big and colourful and I would never use bath towels for swimming.

towel is towel, no?

I generally save beach towels for the beach or swimming. It would irritate me a bit if someone were to put them to general bathroom use. I would never say anything though as I do realise I'm being a bit precious and rediculous.

They are put in the airing cupboard, not the towel cupboard in the bathroom.

Hmm, we always saved beach towels for beach and swimming lessons/going to the pool. Then again, I was never a few mins away from one or the other. If they're rarely used otherwise, then yabu. Towels are meant to be used.

YANBU.
Beach towels should go in the airing cupboard and only come out for holidays and days at the beach.
They should not be used indiscriminately and left on the bathroom floor, the end of a bed or a mouldy gym bag DS are you reading?.
That way they last for 20+ years and be hopelessly old fashioned for ever.

Are beach towels different fabric/size? Or is the only difference the colours and patterns? Disclaimer: we have no beach towels and don't have beach holidays so there may be whole categories of towel that I am not familiar with.

OP that's nearly as bad, but not quite, as using bathroom towels on the beach< shudder>
Seriously your only option is to hide them or LTB !Grin

I love using my beach towels. Bath towels are just too small. Nothing matches here!

YY bathroom towels on the beach or for swimming do make me cringe. Nice to know I am not alone.

YANBU!! Horrible thin nasty velour that doesn't absorb properly vs fluffy absorbent Turkish loop.

A beach towel is not a bath towel.

I take bathroom towels swimming as it seems silly to wash a towel after one use when I could take towels that have already been in service and then wash them. Because this seems like an eminently sensible system, and one which is likely to single-handedly save the planet, I'm afraid YAstillBU as far as I'm concerned. Wink
