Crocs

I have to wear them most of the time as had part of my foot amputated and they are the most comfortable and almost the only thing I can wear, and I think this is the case for many people who wear them. Tbh I do not like them and I do get the point that people find them ugly. But my problem is the continuous comments on FB or magazines about how awful they are, and fit only for children's entertainers or OAP's. It really spoils my day when I then have to pick my child up from school feeling self conscious and hoping I am not being judged. I just wish people would be more sensitive as I have seen these posts from 'friends' who know I have little choice. FWIW I dream about being able to wear heels again and dress up, but its just not possible. AIBU to wish that people would stop the Croc hating?

Well I think you may be a bit unreasonable to be offended by people not liking your footwear. They aren't even talking specifically about your personal crocs.

YANBU. Why people feel the need to comment on anyone else's attire is beyond me, surely they have better things to do? Confused And as for your friends, that's crummy of them. Have you spoken to them about it?

I absolutely love my crocs they ate the most comfortable shoes I own. I wear them daily around the house and all the time in tbe summer and couldn't give a shit about what others think.
I also own the most gorgeous pair of crocs sandals and am going to buy some lovely crocs wedges and boots for winter as they are so comfy.
Try and ignore or the judgy pants.

I've probably made some mildly anti Crocs statements in the past but I will stop now. Can't say I've ever judged someone for wearing them though. And as for your friends saying things knowing your situation......majorly insensitive.

Wear your Crocs with pride OP!

I have seen a lovely pair of sandals.

That. I. Have. To. Purchase.

They are crocs, I just hope they fit me when I finally get round to sourcing them, otherwise I will be seriously pissed off!

My crocks are the comfiest things in the world... as long as I wear socks in them. Otherwise, I get blisters and bleeding.

I still wear 'em. I don't give a flying monkey chuff what anyone else thinks about that.

Sod 'em.

also, they're great for hospital stays and camping instead of slippers - you can wear 'em in the shower and not risk catching veruccas.

People love to wank on about other peoples clothes. Fuck knows why, as if its any of their business? Wear what you like and if others dont like it, thats their sad little problem.

I presume you're talking about the cloggy things. But I just have to say that the sandals are the best sandals I've ever owned. Incredibly comfy AND pretty.

i used to wear bright pink crocs the only problem i had was for some reason it made my static problem worse or i would still wear them now! there is nothing better on a hot rainy day than a pair of crocs that let the water out and keep your feet cool

im glad you reminded me they exist im going shopping to buy more later Grin

I thought they looked a bit odd when I first saw them.

Then I tried them on.

We now have two pairs each.

I don't find them very beautiful, and I don't have any, but DD does, they're very handy for the summer. They're also very commonplace now, I'm surprised anyone feels the need to comment upon them. They exist, people find them comfortable, really no need to slag them off.

I've just got my first pair and oh my god they are comfy. My migraines and backaches have improved, and my dodgy infected nail has cleared up amazingly. I think us croc wearers should feel sorry for the others tbh, if they are hating on crocs they've obvs never tried them in which case they're destined to a life lived in uncomfortable shoes. The chumps. My 3yo likes mine so much he requested we get him a matching pair! I think DH may be the next to succumb

NO excuse but your friends probably aren't thinking of you when they post and as they are your friends forget that you even wear crocs.

Try not to let it bother you. I know hats easy to say from an outsider point of view though.

fwiw I love the flip flops, so comfy and washable and don't wear down quickly and just brought a pair of sandals.

I have some cheap croc like shoes that I wear in the garden, I love them. I also have a pair of real sling back crocs that I would wear outside the house and garden. They are very comfortable. I especially like to wear them on holiday as so comfy. I am looking at getting some croc sandals soon too. I always struggle to find comfy shoes for when I am abroad, I always end up with blisters.

I wear crocs all the time. I don't give a damn what others think! If people get reslly shitty I just point out I have to be able to run fast after (or away from these days) my severely autistic son. That shuts them up! I'm sure talking about your foot wouid have the same effect!

But also look at companies like Conker shoes - pricey but they do made to measure (not very dainty though - I kike chunky shoes so love them) - they wouid be able to produce something to accommodate your foot. I get that there's a difference between choosing to wear crocs & having to, but try to take no notice.

I didn't realise you could get so attached to a pair of crocs that you defend them like your pet Grin.

They must be comfy to inspire such loyalty because damn they ugly Wink

Don't take it so personally OP.

This made me properly laugh :D

Another here who gets that crocs aren't the bonniest shoes but I love mine. They're so comfy and practical! I couldn't give a fuck whether other folk like them or not.

Just googled crocs, I am vaguely aware of them but never took much notice. They look Fab! You can get hello kitty ones, and Mickey mouse and little rubber badge things of betty boop and cats and flags. Why has no-one ever told me this? I am definitely getting some.
Back to the point of the thread. OP some people are just so thoughtless, and join in with 'things' on facebook like sheep. 'Let's all hate crocs ' will soon be replaced by something else, but they shoul have a bit more sensitivity imo. Have you checked online for places that offer other styles of shoe for people who struggle to find footwear due to amputation/medical issues? X
