help for strikethrough please

just to say, mumsnet has been an amazing help for me for so long, and through the many dilemmas of my life.

just wondering if someone who has the time or inclination can help.

I have been trying to do the "strikethrough" on my messages for ages.
I have looked online, but still can't grasp the best way to achieve it.

can anyone help?

two of those then text (without spaces) and end it with another two (again without spaces)

Or click on the I (italics) symbol at the bottom, choose strike through and write in between the dashes that way?

After trying loads of different things it seems that Mumsnet IBU and only letting me use one lot of formatting at a time.

i thought you can do strike out italics and bold too

but in the middle of things, not as a standalone

had to check it runtum to make sure it works.
it's 4 asterisks together in a line with no spaces and nothing else
