AIBU?

I have had enough of Phillip sodding Schofield and his apologist attitude towards Jimmy Savile

Angry

Last week, it was saying how sorry he felt for JS's family to the VICTIMS of JS fgs, basically saying that he knew the layout of the dressing rooms at the BBC and he can't imagine that happening and no-one seeing and now, just, he said "But that's what television and radio was like in those days"

Errr, no Phil. Rape/molestation has ALWAYS been wrong, you daft twat. Yes, they were sexist times but there is a world of difference between sexual assaults on underage girls and sexist banter/inequality in the workplace.

And you have young daughters IIRC, Phillip. Shame on you.

Nothing would please me more than to see that smug git Pip Schofield knocked off his pedestal. Why is this man so popular and ubiquitous?

Baffling.

YANBU!

I said the same last week, he asked each woman at least twice why she hadn't reported it. And then again this morning, making out that the culture was different, as if that excuses it. I'd love someone to ask him what he heard about Jimmy, cos I'm a housewife from Glasgow and I knew the rumours years ago so don't believe this is news to him.

I have heard so much bullshit about Jimmy FUCKING Savile in the past week it's unreal.

If these allegations were about young boys I'm sure there would be much less disbelief.

Hmm

My boss said "Oh they're just all after money", when I asked him how many more people needed to come forward for him to start believing that these women aren't lying, he said "The more people that come forward, the less I believe any of them"

I hate my fucking job.

I didn't know philip schofield had that attitude, very disappointed to hear it OP :(

JS & men like him make me feel sick tbh.

MrsHardigan · 08/10/2012 10:55

What's wrong with him saying he feels sorry for Savile's family? Imagine how you'd feel if you found out you father/brother/loved-one was a child abuser. They are victims in this too.

Pip is banned from the telly in our house, but I thought he usually had splinters in his arse from sitting on the fence. He certainly picked the wrong thing to have an opinion on. But the implications are there is so much more to this, and so many more names to come out. The inference that times were different then - baffles me. I was a teenger in the 70's and I was naive beyond belief.

After money from WHO?! How are people this stupid?! They won't be getting payouts from the media as they are speaking anonymously.

Mrshardigan - Do you think that it's an appropriate thing to say to the victims of JS?

Report
MrsHardigan · 08/10/2012 10:58

Yes I do actually.

Report
BupcakesAndHaunting · 08/10/2012 10:58

You'd say it to the victims of his abuse would you, MrsHardigan? Hmm

"why hadn't she reported it?" then "the cluture was different then" - eh? He's answered his own question there surely? These women (girls at the time) didn't report it at the time becasue the culture meant that they wouldn't be believed. Hardly needs repeat questioning...

Bupcakes - Money from the newspapers apparently. They're all going to get paid shitloads from the newspapers.

I might have to let them all know that this is a thing that's going to happen.

He did also say that April Jones' mother was the culprit of her disappearance because she did a press conference.

You can't fight this sort of "thinking" Sad

I can't watch This Morning any more, he makes my blood boil. If a housewife from Glasgow, and a housewife from Lincolnshire knew about the rumours years ago, then it beggars belief that it wasn't common knowledge.

It's a chat show, he was interviewing victims of abuse. He expressed sympathy towards the family of the abuser who must also be going through hell right now. Let's hang, draw and quarter him, sick bastard! No, I don't think it was unreasonable in the slightest.

BupcakesAndHaunting · 08/10/2012 11:00

He said that about April Jones's mum?! Shock

She feels sorry for his family! Nothing wrong with that!

But according to the other JS thread he has no family? Confused

I am conficted. See, Schofe is my daytime, genital-less husband. Yet he has said some iffy things. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he's just expressing himself badly, though I think his point today was that the BBC shouldn't be demonised in isolation, as a lot of institutions were inherently sexist, nasty places for women to work. True, I imagine. That's not to say that the BBC shouldn't be investigated. We pay their wages, after all.

Report
Whitecherry · 08/10/2012 11:02

Philip said that?? Shock

Report
BupcakesAndHaunting · 08/10/2012 11:02

Fuck the family's feelings! I'm sorry but all of my sympathy goes to the victims. And if I did feel any sympathy for the family, I certainly wouldn't be so insensitive as to say so to the victims.

Not once did he offer the victims any sympathy, but offered sympathy to the family of their abuser?! What the actual fuck?

Stupid question dreams I feel sorry for anyone who finds out their family member was a child abuser, not just famous people's relatives no. I wonder how many of his family are now wondering whether he abused their children.

He's a bellend. He's wittering on now about how I should be bringing up the boys.

Cos he's got a 1 year old and is now the world authority on parenting.
