I'd like to drop a couple of dress sizes and I know the best way to do this is healthy eating and exercise but wondered if anyone had any experience of the Adios weight loss pills you see adertised?! Or similar ones?!

i found adios, lipobind etc to be pretty crap- have heard good things about alli, but apparently the side effects are awful (& you need to be above a certain weight/ bmi to buy them)

You have answered your own question - you know what to do to lose weight. Eat healthily and exercise. No need for silly diet pills!

NoTeaForMe Fri 22-Jul-11 13:48:07

Oh....I thought you could buy them over the counter....I guess that wouldn't really be safe!!

Damn it, I'll have to exercise and cut down portion sizes then.....rubbish!!

OnlyWantsOne Fri 22-Jul-11 13:49:28

I've found WW pro points to be fairly easy. I lost a stone in a month.

Cut down portions and get a bit more active. grin

yes the alli stop the body from absorbing the fat from the food but that fat has to go somewhere and thats out your botton :/

ddubsgirl Fri 22-Jul-11 13:50:53

ffs bottom!

DD and DH used them-useless smile Don't waste your money.

They just exercised more and ate healthily and lost weight. DD went to Slimming World. We loved the recipe book, and ate all the same stuff (more or less) that we usually did, just cooked it differently or swapped some naughty food for something else. It wasn't that bad

I was on them for 6 weeks, lost 2 lbs, had amazing coloured flatulance and was totally embarrassed about needing the toilet in public places, the noise and colour was unbelivable, didn't lose any weight really. Maybe just me having a bad experience.

MeconiumHappens Fri 22-Jul-11 14:46:53

amazing coloured flatulance? that sounds awesome! Imagine being able to create a purple cloud of fart.....

MorelliOrRanger Fri 22-Jul-11 14:53:48

Low carbs, more exercise is the way to go - its a lot cheaper than all these faddy pills.

I do the Dukan diet - have done since March - I've lost 20lb and am maintaining now having introduced every food back in, including sweets, chocolate and alcohol.

I find it very easy to do.

overthehillmum Fri 22-Jul-11 17:07:39

Meconiumhappens, it was a purple cloud....unfortunately on a night out....ruined my night out, myunderwear and gave me an insane fear of passing wind ever again!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it that everyone knows how to lose weight but people dont actually want to do it angry

Moanna Fri 22-Jul-11 17:15:12

Low carb and exercise is fab. I've lost two and half stone and more importantly kept it off.

JanMorrow Fri 22-Jul-11 17:15:50

Coz it's boringgg

controlleddemolition Fri 22-Jul-11 17:16:11

OP has asked about Adios and most people are giving answers about Alli, which is something completely different. Which tablets did you mean OP, Adios or Alli?

controlleddemolition Fri 22-Jul-11 17:16:45

Why does that make you angry mosschops? confused

TattyDevine Fri 22-Jul-11 17:19:07

Because they are armchair-dictating, or making it sound easy, I suspect controlleddemolition...

tiredemma Fri 22-Jul-11 17:20:06

the way to lose weight is really quite simple-

dont eat refined carbs.
drink lots of water
have smaller portions
exercise for at least 30 mins a day doing something that makes you feel like your hert is going to pound out of your chest.

For years i have tried to lose weight by hoping that the 'weight fairies' will just come along and take my fat from me- basically just making half heated feeble attempts at losing weight.

In april I decided enough was enough- I changed the way i think about food - read every low GI book going and also adopted a 'south beach diet' approach to my dietary intake.

on April 5th this year I was 10st 5lb. This week I weigh 8st 13lbs.

change your attitude towards food and you will lose weight.

controlleddemolition Fri 22-Jul-11 17:20:17

Wow, I couldn't care less if someone doesn't want to lose weight or not exercise, certainly wouldn't make me angry.

mosschops30 Fri 22-Jul-11 17:20:42

Because if more people actually ate better and did some exercise then we wouldnt have such a problem with people taking shite pills/wanting gastric ops/diabetes etc etc.
Its not rocket science is it, just burn off what you consume.

mosschops30 Fri 22-Jul-11 17:21:37

Good for you, maybe if you looked after some of those people you might change your mind

controlleddemolition Fri 22-Jul-11 17:21:43

Ah, so you are concerned about the strain on our public health system? Fair enough.

TheCrackFox Fri 22-Jul-11 17:21:53

Coloured flatulence sounds fun.

controlleddemolition Fri 22-Jul-11 17:22:39

I do look after some of those people! Well, I did before I was made redundant recently.
