A woman on the antenatal ward has been snoring for 12 hours

Currently in for reduced movements (again) and drs talking about a section tomorrow. A woman in the opposite bed is the loudest snorer in the world. Each time shes been woken up for monitoring, shes fallen back to sleep very quickly. I have no idea how she does it. Tell me your ward horror stories to make me not lose my mind

And yes i have earplugs but stupidly didnt bring enough so trying to ration them

Couple in the bed next to me on the postnatal ward. Teens, whose baby was in special care. The boyfriend stayed and was so unpleasant in the way he spoke to his girlfriend. Played the tv at full blast all night and yelled into his mobile when they weren’t yelling at each other, or snoring like pigs. I felt so sorry for her. At first. Then they were asked if they wanted to go and visit their newborn in NICU, she said “nah, we’re watching tv. Love Island’s on in a minute.” When the midwife said their baby was doing a little better, and would they like her brought down to the ward for them to give her a bottle if they didn’t want to go upstairs, they said “nah, can’t you just do it?”. Poor baby.

You can definitely reuse your foam earplugs OP I’ve done it before. Feel for you, the noise on wards make them unbearable.

I had my first DC in 1999. Had to stay overnight before they were born. Got zero sleep because the
Midwife at the desk was snoring. 😮

They should un squish if you leave them. If they are like the boots ones you can re-use.

Also expect they have in Hospt shop, if so the silicon or wax ones block much more noise.

I was on an antenatal ward for hyperemesis, attached to a drip and feeling awful after weeks of continual vomiting. The partner of the woman next to me arrived with fish and chips, and stunk the place out. That didn’t help my vomiting at all

When I was in hospital after having my first I was opposite a woman who's baby needed to go in the blue light incubator thing. She had had her the previous day so they were just in overnight and the baby went in the blue incubator that morning as the midwives were concerned. The woman was annoyed as she wanted to be discharged so that she could go to a party. She asked the midwives if she could go to the party and leave the baby alone on the ward next to her bed and then come back later 🤦‍♀️ they obviously said no. I was a first time mum scared to leave mine to nip to the loo and she was trying to leave hers to go to a party.

OP if you can wander down to the hospital shop they are very likely to have some ear plugs, but as others have said you can reuse them.

I had to stay on a ward with teen da just before Christmas.
The elderly man opposite was given a phone by his dd when she visited and she (loudly) showed him how to go on tik tok.

He then spent the remainder of our 4 day stay on it, I kid you not when I say there can't have been anything left for him to watch on tik tok.

For context, I was sleeping on the floor, so already 'tetchy'

I had this too OP, 3 days into an induction with no sleep and hourly monitoring. Was never so glad to go into labour if it meant finally getting away from the snorer (we were in an ‘overspill’ room so had 3 beds in a row and you still hear her at the nurses station)!

How relieved were you to find the extra ear plugs

When I was in hospital to be induced with my first, I kept waking myself up with the loudness of my snoring. The staff were all pissing themselves laughing at me and could barely tell my husband about it when he came to visit for laughing

The other women on the ward must have wanted to smother me with a pillow

In hospital waiting for elective surgery, so nil by mouth. It kept being put back so I was really pretty hungry. A nurse came and pulled the curtains around my bed, so I thought yet another pre-operative procedure was about to happen - no, she proceeded to take a Mars Bar out of her pocket and eat it in front of me! When she had finished it, she opened the curtains and went on her way. This happened decades ago, but I still feel the outrage!

I had my second cs with child number 3

I was in the hospital by 8am and he was born at 11ish, that night the woman next to me had the most awful snore….so loud

The next morning i begged the doctor to let me go home and they did

I was discharged at 26 hours 😀

Had a much better nights sleep at home

I was in at 26 weeks for bleeding and stayed in until I was induced at 37 weeks as it turned out to be the placenta covering my cervix.

I lasted a week before crying to the midwife that I needed a different room because the woman next to me was talking on her phone all night fucking long, to relatives in a different time zone and she refused to go a few steps down the ward to the lounge to do so, then spent all day snapping at people to be quiet.
