Tell me your best examples of cheeky F**kery and unbelievable requests on FB Marketplace!!

I have been recently trying to sell some items on FB marketplace. I know there are CF aplenty on there but recently this has astounded me!

I tried to sell some Our Generation dolls play sets.
One of the sets was a camping set where you could clearly see my skirting boards behind the tent and all the accessories were clearly made out of plastic. I had three messages all asking how many people could sleep in the tent!! (4 if you are a borrower)
I also had a 4 poster bed advertised which clearly stated doll bed in capitals. That attracted many messages regarding the quality of the mattress. Not sure why they thought they were getting a 4 poster bed with mattress and bedding for £30!

I also had a toy ice cream truck and a retro diner for sale. Both of which had all the original food accessory parts. I had several messages asking if they could buy certain items from the sets so that they had a complete set! (Erm nope)

The biggest debacle was trying to sell a kids Ikea wardrobe set and loft bed.
I had a lady who wanted the whole lot. She had a van and was coming to get it on the Wednesday. Wednesday morning she told be she was waiting for a refund from another bed she had ordered.
By this point I had dismantled the loft bed and the wardrobes and they were all in my hallway. She asked if we could keep them until Friday. We reluctantly agreed. I explained we had others interested. It came to Friday and I messaged her and she said she would be collecting today.
I asked her what time and then realised she had blocked me!!
I then had a second buyer who had access to a van but wasn't moving into their house until the Monday. We agreed to keep the items as it suited us to do it on the weekdays.
It got to the Monday and she said she was now waiting to hear from social services to find out if her furniture grant had been successful.
Who asks someone to keep a huge quantity of furniture in their hallway without even having money to purchase it.
A lovely buyer came the very next day.

What time wasters/numpties have you experienced?

Most of mine are the same two people wanting things that cant drive and live nowhere near me. I put the village as the first thing on my post then a few blank lines so it cant be lost in the listing.

Both of them comment as soon as I post so no one else replies. Then they either ask me to meet in town or that they arrange a mate to collect.

Even on local clothes bank pages where I give kids clothes away they do this. I have totally given up now with everything except Ebay to sell things. Charity shop is such low hassle compared to this

I sold a tv. Took it to the person’s house (she hadn’t warned me that she couldn’t drive). Got there 10ish and she was in her nightie saying she hadn’t had chance to get the cash yet and could I come back at 11?!

I said I’d drop it off on my way home from work then I didn’t bother.

Gave away our old lawnmower on Freecycle. Agreed a pick up time based on “we won’t be in before then”. Guy turned up 2 hours early and was annoyed we weren’t home.

Can you block them so they can’t see your posts?

Selling a sky remote. A bloke messaged and asked for it to be delivered. Told him we don’t drive and husband was going to work later anyway.

How is he getting to work?
He bikes
Can you get him to bring it round on his way? I drive but I can’t be bothered to leave the house as I’m tired

No!!

Another man messaged not long after and he came right round to get it

Had someone message me about a £7 item, told her it was still available then no response for hours so the next person that asked and could collect got it, eventually original messer gets back to me asking if I can deliver it 20 miles away, got the hump when I told her it had sold anyway and I certainly wouldn't be delivering.

It would have taken an hour plus fuel to deliver it!

And LOADS of people who can't drive expecting you to hold on to something for 6 weeks until their neighbours uncles sisters friend is passing by to collect it.

Selling my sons old bedroom furniture, collection only. Message from someone who lived the other side of the country asking if we could deliver.... um no....could we meet halfway? Um again no. Then got a torrent of abuse about how they'd hired a van now and we'd have to refund them as we were too selfish to hire a van and drive over 100 miles to deliver some furniture we'd advertised for £20.

I saw someone on our local share group asking for clothes for her summer holiday, with quite a list of specific requirements and wanting them delivered as she didn’t drive. She didn’t even say please.

A couple of days later the person who had replied to her listed a bundle of summer clothes as “person who asked for them didn’t want them”, so the CF had obviously rejected them after she had driven round with them.

I have given up trying now and just have a houseful of clutter! Clothes go into the charity bin down the road and everything else is just taking up space...

Tempted to do a car boot sale over the summer but not sure how I will react to in person CF’ery

I was selling a 3 m x 2 m woolen rug so it was very big and heavy and the size was clearly stated. Me and dh struggled to lift it. I had put on message that I couldn't help with lifting it because I was unwell and dh at work. So this very smalll woman turned up by herself. Then it transpired she did not have a car and had been planning to take it home on the bus!

Loads of matching outfits listed on Vinted under the Twins clothing section (seeing as I have twins and that’s who these clothes are for) priced for buyer taking both. So many people messaging asking for they can buy just 1 outfit set, oh and they don’t want to even pay 1/2 of what the clothes are advertised for because they didn’t get that much for their smaller sized, similar outfit (which, when I checked the listings, were listed as being suitable for playwear only due to weaning stains and ‘the odd hole’). And then they got upset when I declined. Sold the whole bundle of outfits to one buyer for asking price minus 10% as they were buying a number of outfits and free postage!! Even after items taken down the same potential buyers message asking if I’ve still got ‘their’ outfits for them 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I was selling a toy kitchen complete with loads of accessories. I made it explicitly clear that it was being sold as a bundle yet still got people asking how much for the kitchen only - read the listing people!

I’ve given up advertising on marketplace for very similar reasons. Some people are so rude!

We did a huge clear out of our children’s toys and clothes - bundled them up into age appropriate piles and listed them all for free - collection only.

One “lady” wanted everything. I said this was fine - then she pretty much demanded delivery (she was about 15 miles away and didn’t drive). I said it was collection only and was then hit with a barrage of abuse telling me I was depriving her grandchildren of new clothes and toys and I was very selfish to not deliver. 😳

She also put messages on the actual ad telling people I was selfish and wouldn’t let her collect!

Nowt queer as folk.

Oh all this. Listed a buggy, a good 25% cheaper than every other of this brand and model listed on Facebook. "What's the cheapest price you'd sell it for" - as if I'm going to tell you that?!

Listed a tumble drier for free - "Can you deliver" "I might take it can you hold it" "Can I come at 11pm"

Also lots of people on Facebook and Olio that want my exact address before committing to collect. I'll give a very small area location (ie specific suburb, 2 mins walk from Lidl/xyz pub) but I'm not giving the world and his wife my actual address. Look at the map on the listing.

It's a shame as I do pick up the odd freebie on FB but had given up offering things out due to my stalker CFs.

I love these threads!

Not cf’s, just a bit dim. Was selling a little tikes play house, buyer messaged asking if it would fit in their car, they would be coming to collect with two children and two adults. Said no, you will definitely need to have seats down. Ok thank you, will come to get it. Arrived with.....two adults and two children and no way to put seats down 🤦‍♀️ They were lovely but how on Earth they thought it would fit in is beyond me!

2 spring to mind.

One was the lovely lady who gave me 15 large stepping stones that were still sold in B&Q at £10 each. Apparently I was the only one that actually sent a message and said 'please' rather than the stock 'is this available' message.

One complete and utter cock womble who DH 'bought' something from a few weeks ago. He'd given 6 people his address without telling any of the others and then sat waiting to see who'd turn up the fastest. It wasn't DH. There were 2 other very angry people there when we got there. Wouldn't surprise me if any of the others that turned up put his windows through tbh.

Ah we love marketplace and love it when people turn up in inappropriate vehicles to pick up items…..dishwasher in a 3door hatchback (four adults in the car) they managed somehow.

double bed on a fiat panda, managed and drove 30ish miles with a double mattress on the roof.

4 seater garden sofa in another 3door hatchback, I laughed when she insisted we at least try to fit it in she had to send her brother in a van who also laughed when he realised what she had tried to fit in her car.

And a fireplace surround (think 2m by 2m and heavy) when she already had a car full of slate tiles that was basically dragging on the road. She insisted she wanted it so paid and then never reappeared and didn’t respond so we sold that one twice.
