Literally carried my husband

Floogal · 30/06/2021 23:29

We have a 5 year old and both in our early 40s. Last night we were tidying up the kitchen and DH was sitting on side putting things in cupboard. As I walked past him he put his arms around my shoulders then wrapped his legs around my waist. I managed to give him a piggyback ride for a few seconds before dropping him in hysterics. Actually proud I did that. Why did he do that? GrinCan anyone else lift up their hubby?

I keep telling DH I can lift him up but he won't let me try. He says I have a bad back and he's way to heavy for weak little me. He has a good point, but I'm still convinced I could carry all 13stone of him around for a bitGrin

JackieTheFart · 30/06/2021 23:54

Absolutely not! Tbh I don’t think he could carry me either, we’re both very overweight Blush

o8T8o · 30/06/2021 23:55

He is double my weight so the most ld do is drag him

Hen2018 · 30/06/2021 23:58

Why was the 5 year old mentioned?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/06/2021 23:59

I probably could have when we first met - I was 18, he was thin. I'm 50, disabled and he's not thin. So no, not a chance. Mind you, I'm small and he's got a bad back so he couldn't carry me either.

Saz12 · 01/07/2021 00:01

Stand back to back.
Link arms (at elbows).
Bend your knees, so DH is leaning back in a limbo type style.
Straighten knees.
Ta dah! You can lift someone v much heavier than you are like that, without destroying your back. A pointless skill though...!

SarahAndQuack · 01/07/2021 00:01

Well, I can lift DP and she can lift me, but we're both women? I weigh about 11 stone 10 and she weighs around 13 stone. When she was heavily pregnant I had to do a lot of lifting her (obviously, not picking her up bodily but supporting her to get up) because she had a difficult pregnancy. I had to physically carry her in hospital when she'd just given birth to DD because she couldn't get to the toilet and no one would help; she would have weighed over 13 stone then. Not so much fun.

I’d struggle to even drag mine Grin
o8T8o · 01/07/2021 00:17

I'd have to roll him onto a slippery cloth first and then it would have to be on a slippery floor 🤣

HelenArlidge · 01/07/2021 01:37

I don't know the answer to your question but it really made me laugh because I've just been reading the thread asking if people assume women have children and someone said something like 'No and I don't ask either because it can be upsetting, if people have children they find a way to get them into the conversation' so I guess that poster was right Grin

Well done OP, if you keep practising you'll be super strong in no time! Maybe next time he could give you some warning though 😂

Walkerbean16 · 01/07/2021 01:43

I can carry mine, piggy back or lifting. I'm quite chubby though and he is probably only 2 stone heavier than me.

I can’t lift mine. Fortunately she’s a good sport about my lack of strength
Glovesandscarf · 01/07/2021 02:49

I think the 5yonis relevant. I could probably have carried DH pre kids, but have lost huge amounts of strength since kids. I’d probably still give it a go tho!

Providora · 01/07/2021 02:53

I reckon I could get mine off the floor for a few seconds but pretty sure I'd pee myself and/or pull something in my back, so not worth attempting it really!

Go and lift him out of bed and see if you can do it 😂
rubydoobydoo · 01/07/2021 03:07

I want to try now but I don't think he'd appreciate being woken up Grin

He's at least 5 stone heavier than me but I lift weights so I might be in with a shot!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 01/07/2021 03:08

I don't know, why did he do that? Confused. Strange thread!

LynetteScavo · 02/07/2021 20:14

It's not a strange thread, it's a normal thread. I think your core muscles suffer with each pregnancy, so having a 5yo is relevant. I like to see the DM of two sets of twins literally carry one DH.

Although, if they can carry 4 DC, I'm sure they're more than capable of carrying one DH Grin

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 02/07/2021 20:16

I don't think I've ever tried but I have carried a male friend, albeit he was shorter than DH. It wasn't that hard.

He can definitely carry me.

CassandraTrotter · 02/07/2021 20:21

Theres no way i could lift my dh. He is 6 feet 3 and not the slim line swimmer he was when we first met. I can barely lift my 9 year old son to be honest Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 02/07/2021 20:33

My very tall bishop friend was ordaining a new priest a few years ago. The new priest is tiny.so at the kiss of peace he lifted him up.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/07/2021 20:36

I'm strong and can lift my 200lb DH on my back. I wouldn't want to walk with him!

ShowOfHands · 02/07/2021 20:39

I'm 8.5st and DH is 12 stone. I gave him a piggy back just today! We were racing the dc (14yo dd had 9yo ds on her back). They won by a country mile but I could do it.

I do lift weights pretty seriously however!

EishetChayil · 02/07/2021 20:46

I can throw mine over my shoulder like Miss Trunchbull with a recalcitrant child.

Camomila · 02/07/2021 21:09

I find my 5 year old heavy, I'm not even going to try and lift DH!

(I also struggle with suitcases Blush )
