I like the idea of a ‘wellness journey’

MuddyWalk5007 · 23/01/2021 00:21

I think I need one. I’m going a bit loopy.
Comfort eating has brought me discomfort. My clothes, when I get changed into them from my ‘loungewear’ feel rather tight.
All the doom and gloom all over the internet has made me feel gloomy.

I want to feel well again.
What do I need to do? I think I could do with more yoga and soup in my life. I can start off with that. That sounds like it belongs in a ‘wellness journey’
What else can I do?

Definitely agree with fresh air. And it can be fresh air purely for fresh air’s sake. It doesn’t have to have exercise attached to it. Even just sticking your head out the window. It makes a big difference to how I feel.

I have started having one meal a day that is just all multicoloured vegetables. So a salad with lots of different nice ingredients in, like stuffed olives, sun dried tomatoes, sauerkraut and other deli type stuff, rather than the usual boring lettuce and cucumber. Or a hearty vegetable stew or curry. Just this one meal a day gives so many nutrients and helps your gut biome. It makes me feel like I'm doing my body a favour.

All great and easily doable ideas thank you.
Today, I shall embark on this journey and give myself a boost.

Definitely agree on fresh air each day, healthy food and yoga.

Also taking time every day to do something for yourself like read a book, bit of a pamper, learn a language, art or what I am currently doing is planning what I want to grow this year as it gives me hope.

Meditation and yoga
Exercise, even just walking 30 min a day.
Gratitude
Good food
Even something simple like showering every morning.
Drinking water.

I have started using an app called Streaks on my phone - free in a limited version. It lets you tick off when you do something each day and tells you how long a "streak" you have - so how many days you have gone without missing a day. I actually find it really handy to persuade myself to do simple, but good for me, things. Might be useful! At the moment I have

  • do some yoga
  • take vitamins
  • floss teeth properly before brushing (if I am tired I don't bother and my gums suffer!)
  • read
  • moisturize

I am doing these things:
Taking vitamin d and biotin
Putting body lotion on before bed every night
Burpees every day at 11. So far I can only do 4 burpees. But I’m aiming for 10 every day as they are such great exercise
Eating more veg
Drinking more water

Love this, sounds silly but one thing that helps start off my day is washing my face. I love a really hot flannel to wipe off my cleanser, then I apply moisturizer.

I have read nearly every night since Christmas which I have really enjoyed. I'm also taking vitamin d and trying to get out every day.

As we live in the northern hemisphere and above the 40 th parallel we don’t get enough sunshine so every man , woman and child need vitd3 with k2 to help absorption.
Since we started taking it every day for 18 months , apart from our two Tenerife holidays, we find we don’t get sick.
We also take a zinc supplement and a multi vitamin b. Every day with breakfast.

I barely drink, my dh has a couple of glasses of red wine a night. Neither of us smoke, although he has in the past.

We are both intolerant to gluten and dairy . We haven’t eaten them since July 2019.

We’ve never had a cold , well I can’t remember when, certainly not last year

If you are intolerant, it increases inflammation in the body, in the sinuses, in the digestive system.
I also recently found fructose glucose syrup is a huge no no and hydrogenated fat.
I make my own cakes, occasionally and I make smashing little yorkShire puds

Keep an eye on your elimination process. Everything should flow. At least once a day. There’s a school of thought after every meal. Whatever sits right for you but constipation is very detrimental.

I can’t stress enough the importance of water. Keeping the bowel and organs hydrated is vital, especially for pees and poos.
Water. Pure water. I’m wondering why someone is buying water. A zero water filter removes all impurities. They even send you a TDS meter with it.
Our tap water is about 535 on the meter , so we are heavy on filters.
I need zero water to make my colloidal silver which I take every day, to help fight off infections.
If you have a respiratory infection you can nebulise or vapour use it with cs and a couple of drops of food grade hydrogen peroxide.

Stress is very detrimental to the immune system. Most people are suffering to some extent.
It’s vital to go for a walk , every day if possible.
There’s lots of ideas on the internet to help with that, so I won’t list them all here
I love my little essential oil lamp diffuser.
They aren’t expensive. I got one from Amazon for £14 with a remote control. So put it on just before bed. I find a mix of lavender, geranium and peppermint really soothing.
I also play some soothing music.
I’m looking into colour therapy at the moment. Red is very good for digestive issues, green for stress.
Be sure to get essential oils not fragrance oils.

I limit my use of chemicals. Natural deodorants, shampoos and conditioners that have little harmful chemicals in them. Same with moisturisers. I use perfume sparingly.

These are just a few things we/I do
We sound like a right bundle of laughs but we are getting through this as healthily as possible and laying down good foundations for older age now.

I love a wellness journey, I’m always on one as it’s actually never ending....always something you can improve!

For me the game changer to make progress on a wellness journey was nutrition. Getting that right really does give you massive gains in so many areas. Personally I think that means removing all ultra processed food - all of it. Bad sugars, refined carbs, the horrendous seed oils (vegetable, sunflower, rapeseed etc) all go!

A lot of people don’t like to think about removing all the ‘treats’ but at some point in most wellness journeys it becomes too hard to ignore.

Also vitamin D. A must.

Please can I join in too!

I definitely need this right now. For me it's going to be plenty of fresh air, lots of soups/broths and stews, daily vitamins and a dedicated 10 mins each evening for a mini facial.

I tried to join in with my daughters mindfulness sessions last week, she has one from school after lunch each day, but on Friday I fell asleep on the floor so won't be trying that again.

I am:

  • Trying really hard to fit yoga into lockdown. Because the house is full of people all the time it’s hard - the last couple of days I got my 7 year old to do it with me as there’s no possibility of time to myself in the daytime.
  • Making myself interesting lunches with plenty of veg. For evening meals we’re mostly having the same meals that everyone likes over and over and over and it was getting me down. So everyone else has boring sandwiches for lunch and I’ll make 2 days worth of dal or roast some veg and it makes me happy.

But I am finding it very difficult to find the time and motivation to get out in the fresh air. In normal times I’m walking miles a day on the school run and that’s my daily exercise.

Reduce the amount of news you engage with. I feel a lot better from not reading the BBC news website everyday or watching the briefings. This makes me feel a lot better.

Cooking/ eating a delicious meal rather than just eating tea.
