Good compilation cd for a 10 yr old?

Thinking of getting dd age 10 a compilation CD to go in her stocking - partly tbh to help her be a little bit more clued up as her school friends are much more aware of things like music etc than she is.

Is there a 'Now that's what I call music' sort of thing around that 10 y/os would listen to? (Apologies in advance for ignorance, I am so old I remember the original Now TWICM record coming out!!!)

yes the NOW thing is still going....DCs in awe of my NTWICM vol 4 record. The most up to date one only comes out a bout 3-4 weeks before christmas though, I think and its full of modern tuneless noise

Now...83 is the most recent one and yes, they are pretty good compilation for children that age.

Be warned though...it has that awful Gangnam Style song on!

Sadly I was so uncool even then that I didn't have Now . . .1 Grin maybe it would be a collectors item!

Will look out for NOW 864 then just before xmas

Just been looking at the latest Now cd for my 11 yr old dd, does anyone have it and is it suitable for an 11 yr old, i.e. no swearing etc.?

I've seen Pink's on there with Blow me (one last kiss), that has potential to be unsuitable maybe??

I was looking at this on amazon but I am so out of date I couldn't tell if it was appropriate or not!

DD3 (age 10) gets the Pop Party ones at Christmas - they're generally slightly more "suitable" than the Now ones I find.

The Pop Party ones I think are more age appropriate, I got one last eyar for my 11 year old god daughter and she loved it

The now CDs are all radio edit versions do any swearing has been taken out.

Occasionally it is really obvious what and where the missing word is though.

unfortunately the gangnam style one is the very reason my dd wants it -sigh.

she generally has much better mummy influenced taste.

My ten year old begs me for the Now one everyday!

She'll be getting it for her birthday in two weeks....

Am resigned to the problems with these songs since she and 4 year old db became obsessed with the "Whistle" song. Think I prefer just good old fashioned swearing Grin

Might have a look at Pop Party as an alternative - is no 10 the latest for Christmas?

Mind you am tempted by the one with Gangnam style on it as DH is performing in a panto and has to dance to it (as well as singing a cheesy duet) so much opportunity for piss taking Grin

We always get the Now cds for dsd (12)
she has a radio in her room so all the music is played constantly anyway so there has never been any point in shielding her from it.

and I can't wait to see her do the gangam style dance on xmas day Smile
