Anyone else hate singing bowls?

My yoga teacher uses a singing bowl during savasana and I find it a deeply unpleasant and overwhelming experience. Am I missing something or does anyone else feel the same way? I have an almost visceral reaction to it, and often try to quietly leave before savasana, but feel guilty because I know she hates people leaving at that point. Do I need to try to get used to it, or does it just not work for some people?

Explain to her that that particular pitch has an unpleasant effect on you, and spoils your experience of her wonderful yoga class.

I love the sound of them, but there are perfectly normal (to other people) noises that actually make me feel rage, so I sympathise.

If you tell her I’m sure she would understand.

In yoga/meditation/breathwork etc it’s not unusual for some things to feel really unpleasant. Maybe it’s jangling a certain chakra the wrong way haha

If you don’t like them, you don’t like them and imv you won’t get used to them. I like singing bowls but I’ve only experienced them at specific singing bowl sessions. I think i might find them intrusive at savasana and it seems the opposite of what I understand savasana to be.

But I also think that you should not leave before savasana because that and the closing of the session are part of the practice and it’s disruptive to leave before the end.

If you can’t bear it then I think you’ll have to find a different teacher

I quite like them, although I prefer the lower pitched ones.

I think CraftyNavySeal makes a good point about it jangling a certain chakra. The tones/vibrations of the bowls are supposedly aligned to different parts of the body so could be raising your awareness of something deeper that's not quite right (emotionally).

I would mention it to your yoga teacher.

In a similar way, 'regular' music can evoke happiness, sadness, apprehension, anticipation, etc. Soundtracks to movies and the like evoke feelings.
