Any tips on crow?

I’ve tried a lot of different types of yoga over the last 15 years but didn’t stick with any for more than a couple of months until about a year ago, when I started going to a lovely studio. I go to a variety of classes, from more energetic ones to very restorative ones.

However I can’t do crow pose at all. The instructors talk about making a shelf with your arms for your knees but my knees slide off. I try to bend my arms to 90 degrees. I get my knees on the backs of my arms. I lift my gaze and tilt forward. But I can’t hold it for more than a few seconds. As soon as my feet come off the ground, my knees start to come off my arms and I fall to the side.

Does anyone have any advice? Or videos i can watch?

I found some detailed explanations on the yoga sub Reddit that worked first time. They have a good search bar, and I worked my way through crow tips. Also Yogi Flight School is very good. Having bare arms and legs gives you more traction.

I've found I've nailed it since I started wearing shorts to yoga because of the warm weather! Hope I'll have "caught it" enough that it will translate to wearing leggings again. I was so proud when I first did it! Can now hold for 5 breaths. Try it in shorts, OP, you get more of 'stick'!

For me it's the same for all the harder poses, abdos and confidence! Until your core muscles are up to it you (like me) will struggle

Skin on skin is also a lot easier in crow as people say.
