Chaturanga help please

I’ve been attending a yoga class for a few months now but I really struggle with chaturanga. I always kind of end up flopping to the ground. Can anyone recommend a YouTube video or something to watch that would help me with it? I’ve looked myself but there are so many to choose from so some recommendations would be good.

It's hard to do if you don't have that much upper body strength..but that does come if you continue to practice. You should drop your knees and do a push up that way. The teacher should show modifications in class

Agree, speak to your teacher, that's what they are there for.

Do it with your knees down - that is a standard modification and one I always offer my class when I teach.

Have you ever tried with a belt around your arms?

Standbyguest · 09/03/2023 18:01

It's essentially a push up movement. I put my knees down first

I've been doing yoga for years and am still rubbish at chataranga, most of the time I put my knees down, occasionally manage one without. I really need to work on my upper body strength!!

*chaturanga

I only manage it occasionally, I’m a weed.
I can’t manage it at all with my knees down though, I’ve never understood why this is supposed to be easier but I do have really long legs and a short body so maybe that’s it?

I really struggle with this too. I have to do knees down.

I'd love to do it properly and do the float up to up dog.

Lowering yourself is easier if you think about pushing forward when you push down.
So movement in 2 directions- move chest forward to the hands as you bend elbows which stay close to the side body.
