So after a year or so dabbling with Yoga with Adrienne on YT at home, I decided to get some proper tuition. I like the YWA but I’m not sure if my ‘form’ is right and tbh, the breathing stuff is really tricky for me.

Anyway, I roped DH into it and we had private 90 min tuition. It was great! I thought 90mins would be too long but it was beautifully paced and at an appropriate level for each of us, even though our abilities are very different (I am very flexible but weak, DH is stiff as a plank and strong).

My form was pretty good on the asanas but blimey, i found the breathing bit challenging! We had a good 20mins of nostril breathing (the alternate nostril breathing, holding & releasing). You think breathing will be a piece of cake, after all, you’ve doing it all your life...WRONG! I can bend myself into a human pretzel with relative ease, but turns out breathing is really bloody hard?!

Ooh that’s exciting. I’m doing my first class in a few weeks and am really looking forward to it

Ooh was it expensive?
I like Adriene but I’m hypermobile so it’s easy for me to overdo it.

It was about the same price as a PT session, so much more expensive than a class but worth it to me for the 1:1 (or 1:2) element. It felt very focused and tailored to our needs/abilities, which is obviously the joy of more personalised sessions.

We both really enjoyed it, despite the challenges. So much so that we’re booked in for another session. If you’ve been doing yoga at home and have never had a ‘pro’ look at your positioning and the technique, it is SO useful to understand what you are doing well/not so well.

Also, the 1:1 element is really valuable if, like DH, you have a catalogue of old injuries that stillgive you gip. The teacher (?) was able to pick up on postural issues instantly and give focused adaptations for poses that were hard on a particular injury.

I know I sound evangelical but I loved it. So different to blindly fudging it with YT (which I’ll still do, btw, just less blindly now).I could get seriously into it. Though I didn’t have to stifle the uncontrollable schoolgirl giggles from bubbling forth during the relaxation/meditation bit at the end Blush

DID have to stifle.

My iPad is on its way out and has a mind of its own.

Ooh! I had my first yoga class on Tuesday gone. I bloody loved it. I cried all day Wednesday tho'. 3hrs in hairdressers, tears just falling from my eyes. Poor girl, she must have thought crikey? Patted me on the shoulders and informed me "it must be the products in here you're allergic to". PricelessGrin
