Yoga at Home

Hi,

I have been attending a beautiful yoga class twice a week for the last 6 months.

I have only practised yoga once at home and felt really disappointed.

I want to practise yoga daily but need some tips on how I can achieve a positive practice on my own.

I've recently bought some room essential oil scented spray as in class it's wonderful.

If I had the money and time I would attend class daily Smile

Can anyone recommend YouTube channels or DVDs etc?

I'm very much into the mediation side of yoga rather than work out.

Thank you

Yoga with Adriene. Available on you tube. She does 30 day daily practices or practices depending on what you need each day. She’s amazing.

Yoga with Kassandra - particularly her yin yoga classes if you like the meditative aspect of yoga.

Thank you both, I shall have a look.

I haven't found anything that feels as good as my real classes. I'd also love to be able to go more classes per week.

I have found if I do the same start as my normal yoga class (it always starts very similar, so I can remember what to do), then do one of the Yoga with Adriene you tube vids, followed by 10mins relaxation, that it nearly feels as good as my real class.

Home is just lacking the whole ambience for me. I'm sure once I become more confident and can flow with ease and understanding it will be just as good. Beautiful music, relaxing sounds - I'm just a long way off for now.

I shall try your suggestion thank you

There are actually lots of Yoga instructors in youtube like Kassandra and the rest. Just type in yoga teacher or instructor and you'll see what I mean.

Can you have a 1-1 with your own teacher who would devise a personal practice for you?
Definitely recommend it. It's a very traditional way to learn yoga. Maybe see your teacher every six weeks or so to develop your practice as required.

That's a very good suggestion Sweatylemon, I may even put it on my Christmas wish list.

I find lighting a candle and closing the curtains a little helps build some ambience.

I've only ever had a home practice. Every day almost I use yoga with Adrienne or yoga with kassandra to help me as I'm undisciplined otherwise! I am allergic to fragrance so I'm just on my mat in front of the smart TV. Love it
