What thickness mat do you use on wooden floors?

I do yoga on wooden floors & currently have a 4mm mat. I need a new mat and don't know whether to stick with 4mm, or go to 6mm. What are people's suggestions? I bought a really thick mat a while back and realised that it was too thick to keep my balance well.

I have a 4 mm one and I then fold it in half for headstands.

I also do some balance poses off the mat crow, dancer etc.

What's your budget? Manduka Pro is really good but is rather expensive. It provides enough cushioning on knees, hips, etc but at the same time is firm enough to provide a good solid base for balance poses.

I was looking at the manduka mats. It's a lot of money but I've seen they have a lifetime guarantee and would go for it if they're really worth the money. I'm still using a mat I paid £15 for 5 years ago.

A standard mat is about 1/8-inch thick. Many mainstream yoga mats are made from PVC, polyviny l chloride, which is basically vinyl. You can get a an affordable one from Amazon

Manduka mats are amazing. I love mine, had it for years and it shows no signs of wear at all. It's also super grippy. I put a blanket under it on my wooden floors for headstand and some kneeling poses, but that is mainly because I am a bit precious about having padding... the mat itself is thick enough for cushioning.
