My sleep pattern is already fucked from the Monday England game. Add in heat and I’m a happy bunny. Not.

I love The Marseillaise. In my family we can directly trace our family back to 17th century (a baron (lots of those!) who was a vigneron in Dijon) so I’m kinda French… English at heart though!

I think this is my favourite version. Very rousing, as all good anthems should be.

Lyrics are a bit lurid though. 'May the impure blood of our enemies fertilise our fields' or something like that. Of course, it sounds better in French. Everything does!

Just marking my place as I've been watching the tennis instead!

Match is boring and I'm knackered and want to go to bed. But I don't want to miss the drama of a shoot out, even though I don't much care either way.

I’ve made it this far, I am going to see it out to the bitter end. Plus I have 3rd load of washing still going in machine that I want to hang out before bed plus waiting on dishwasher to finish.

Am about to put the washing machine on a timer right now myself! Though the way this match is going I'll be up long enough to catch the night rate without bothering with the timer!

My grandad who was continental (actually born in Luxembourg brought up in Germany but with French English dad German mum) and fluent in French and he’d swear in French and German if he got angry. As well as English. It did sound better I agree!

My dishwasher and washing machine are also on. I mean you might as well do something. In fact I have 2 dresses to iron so will do that.

My cat Tilly has pissed off upstairs. She lost precious sleep with the England Monday early hours game! I don’t think she likes football. ⚽️

My doggie was so angry when I was watching the England match…she was the main reason I switched off when we got the red card at stupid O’clock! Am just going to sit this out and then bedtime for me !

Are the refs bilingual ?
Ehan the players chat argue with the ref , .what language do they speak in ?

We have French/German with the Swiss team and Spanish this the Columbian side .

I have noticed that English is spoken quite a bit though....with the non- English teams i mean !

Yes, I imagine often English. International refs may need to speak English, though of course many players don't.

No idea but dd and I were thinking the same. Especially when opposing players are shouting at each other.

On BBC when a game has gone to ET they set the clock back to 0. Wish ITV would do the same.

Maybe both teams should go out if they can't win in 120 minutes and their opponents in the next round get a bye.
