How often should you have a one-to-one?

Name change as I don't want this linking to me but I do you post on here.

I work in the third sector in public affairs and have done a few different areas of PA. I applied for a senior public affairs officer at my current place as I don't have that much experience in this area they offered me just public affairs officer. I accepted all good.

I started mid-October and have my three-month review end of this week and despite in my induction meeting my line manager stating I would have one-to-one every other week. I haven't had one since my induction. Just wondering if this is normal as I feel quite exhausted about it. Every time I think about it, it makes me quite emotional.( I have autism and I get emotional quite easily and this is part of my autism) I am mid to late 20s. Not sure how to raise it in my review. Also every one-to-one that we have had scheduled it has cancelled I have rescheduled, but that one also has been cancelled. So it isn't like I haven't tried.

Thanks

I'm new in my job and having 30 min 1-1s, weekly. Manager said would probably drop to fortnightly once I'm settled. I've always had weekly or fortnightly in previous jobs

As a manager I never cancel a 121 without good reason and always reschedule within a few days.

One of my team was struggling recently we put in a weekly recurring catch up which I've said if she doesn't need she can take out.

But a 121 is for the staff member more than me so it's rude to cancel them repeatedly and gives a poor message.

We have monthly 1-2-1s but we are a close small team so most things are discussed as they crop up and manager knows what’s going on with us most of the time anyway.

20+ years in at my job, HR mandates we meet once a year.

getting work assigned by email is fairly normal, but you should be able to ask questions. You should also be able to report back on task status and ask for more work even without a formal meeting. Your boss might be more of a send me a message on teams, pop on and ask me a quick question type.

Also tried this approach but my manager so doesn't respond or if they do it's one word answers it was them who said one to ones were incredibly important, not me.
