I've come to the end of my maternity pay, but not intending to return to full time work yet. I'm a teacher - was primary, but now SEN. I'm not looking at earning a full time wage, just a bit to help us get by. I'm thinking about tutoring but have also started looking at various franchises that are available to run (eg baby music/ signing/ activity classes). I don't know how much commitment is needed for this sort of thing. I'm sure it's a lot. Does anyone have any experience of these?

Hi Belinda - I do Phoenix. If you're interested and can post an email address I can let you have some info. You can decide how much time to put into it and the start up cost is pretty small - you don't need to buy stock up front and can sell from samples/catalogues if you prefer.

I do Usborne Books- it's really flexible, and the best bit (for me anyway!) is that I can take my kids along to events. Because I have the kids I tend to do a lot of soft play/playgroups, and I'm planning on moving into supplying schools soon. Anyone with teaching experience tends to do really well as they can explain how the books benefit the children, although tbh because it is so flexible, people make it fit their skills and other commitments.

Have a look at my website if you like:
