Term time job, pro-rata pay

I am considering applying for a job in a school 36 hours a week term time only, and the salary states pro-rata. Is this the salary before or after the adjustment and how do I work out how much I would actually earn? Thanks.

Before - so you need to work it out probably by dividing by 52 then multipy by 39. It may still be paid over 12 months

You may find that you are actually paid for 43 weeks 39 weeks at school and 4 weeks paid holiday. So divide by 52 and multiply by 43.

You work for 29 weeks a year, but you also get paid for pro rata bank holidays and around 5 weeks' holiday pay. (Different councils have different policies.)

Here 36 hrs is not full time, 37 hrs is; so you might get pro rata'd for that as well.

At my school if you work 37 hrs TTO, the multiplier is 0.89

Hope that helps.

Most jobs in schools pay a few extra weeks, which is your holiday pay - I get paid for (I think) 43.26 weeks.

You might want to check that 36 hours counts as a full- time week - in our authority it's 37. If it is then you would divide the salary by 52 and multiply by 43.26, (or whatever number of weeks you actually get paid for) and then you would usually get 1/12th of that every month. That's before tax, of course.

Thanks for all your replies. I will have to work it out, from what you are all saying, it is now not looking as attractive as it was.

You may need to ask them - I have seen jobs advertised both ways - with the salary already pro-rata-ed, and vice versa.
